First of all, why is this only mentioned through BBC, why arent the American News Channels mentioning this? Secondly, I am not at all against immigration, if you want to come to America to be an American and have American rights etc, then BE AMERICAN. Dont wave your flags and protest in our streets to try to force our country to change. You left your country to come to ours for a reason, if you want these changes made, go home and have them made. My point here is this, if you want to come here, come here and do it right. Its not immigrants we are having these issues about, its the ILLEGALS that are causing the problems. I heard of one of the protesters yesterday who said we should just leave them alone, its not like they are doing anything ILLEGAL. Yes they are!! You idiots. You’re being driven by the media, you have no real clue as to what’s going on, you just assume everything the press says is true and accurate. It’s not that we dont want immigrants, its not that we dont appreciate their help, its just that they need to go about it in the right way. Truthfully, they are talking about retaking the land they GAVE UP to us YEARS ago. I will have to do some research and find the articles that were printed in the Mexican equivilant to the NY Times. I have been in need of cataract surgery for over a year, I have been turned down numerous times. I have no insurance to cover it, it would all be out of pocket and I dont make that much money. I come to work every day and work 9+ hours straight, I pay my taxes, I obey the laws, but Im American by birth and thats apparently my downfall. Had I been an ILLEGAL I would have had my surgery within the first month of knowing I needed it. Its just ridiculous the way things are these days. If we all started to follow Georgia’s lead, things might be a bit better. It’s a bit shameful that we arent willing to help our own, only those who sneak over here. All we have to do is take away all the freebies we give the ILLEGALS and what reason would they have to "invade" us?? Good for Georgia……now let’s follow suit. Thats the end of my rant for now, sorry guys!!

The US state of Georgia has approved a controversial immigration bill which prevents illegal immigrants from receiving state benefits.
When the law takes effect next year, employers hiring illegal workers will face sanctions and police will have to check detainees’ legal status.
Governor Sonny Perdue, who signed the bill, said it was intended to "ensure Georgia’s hospitality was not abused".
Supporters and critics say it is the toughest immigration measure in the US.
"I want to make this clear: we are not, Georgia’s government is not, and this bill is not anti-immigrant," Gov Perdue said.
"It is our responsibility to ensure that our famous Georgia hospitality is not abused, that our taxpayers are not taken advantage of and that our citizens are protected."
‘Difficult time’
The law, which will take effect in July 2007, will also impose prison terms for human trafficking and limit the services commercial companies can provide to illegal immigrants.
BBC correspondents say the move has come at a difficult time in the US as there have been country-wide protests over a federal immigration law currently being debated in the Senate.
"It is a punitive bill," said the president of the Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Sara Gonzalez.
"This is a very complicated issue, and I don’t see any good coming out of this."
