Strollers
Call me crazy, but I own 5 different strollers.
They each have their own uses you see, and since I like them all, and use them all, and we have the space…I don’t see a reason to get rid of them quite yet.
I have a small blue Winnie the Pooh foldable umbrella stroller ($35). This is perfect for sending with Grandma, or going on a plane when we only need one in a stroller. It’s great for the mall when my husband and I want to go separate ways, but in this case it’s used in conjunction with:
My larger black layback umbrella stroller ($20). This is great for the mall like I said, so I can take one to my shops, and Ali can take the other to his shops. It’s good for a younger baby, since the back lays back for when they inevitably fall asleep. It’s also a taller stroller, so I prefer using it as it’s better on my back.
I also have a single large black stroller ($190). This was purchased when I was first pregnant and had my miscarriage so I hold onto it with a lot of sentimentality, but some practicality. It has a reversable handle, so when I want to stop the sun from getting in Anna’s eyes, I can just flip it around so she’s facing me. Attached (and detachable) to this is a ride on toddler seat for Ella ($120). It’s attached to the back wheels and is set so she rides on it as she would a tricycle, but there is plenty of room for me to walk. This is handy when she gets bored of riding, she can hop off easily and hold daddy’s hand.
I also have a double large stroller ($80), which is set so that Anna sits behind Ella, like in a bus. 🙂 I like it better than those HUGE side by side ones, and it fits nicely in the trunk of our car. It’s good when I have to take both of them out alone, as I can strap them both in. It has 2 sunshades and Anna’s back seat lays back when she falls asleep.
Finally, I purchased for our last trip to Auckland, a black double umbrella stroller ($60). It’s a side by side, but not tooo big, so it’s just perfect for travel with both of them. We used it in the airport terminal, and checked it as luggage, and it fits nicely in anyone’s boot. It’s also got 3 handles so is nice to use when walking with Ali as he can help me push it.
I used to have a big red 3 wheeled stroller (the offroading kind) with a toddler seat up top, but it didn’t fit well in the boot. It also sagged back a bit much when Ella was in the toddler seat so I just wasn’t a fan. I paid $150 for it and sold it for $210. LOL (trademe, they bid high, but it was in mint conditioin and they were rapt)
So all up I’ve spent $505 on the strollers I have, minus the $60 profit I made on the red one 😉 So $445 for 5 strollers and a hitch hiker. When you consider that some people pay $1k or more for one of those mountain buggies, I really don’t think I’ve done so badly. xx
