There is definitely a correlation between my moods, my energy and my iron pill intake. I’ve been really good taking them, and so I’ve been almost normal the past couple weeks.
Unfortunately…sorry if this is TMI….the companion to taking iron pills is often constipation…which has been killing me this last week.
So I decided to pause in taking them, letting my body function as normal, before resuming. I figured if my iron stores were up, I should be ok for a week before starting them again.
Oh so wrong…2 days after I stop, I feel slug-like. I swear it’s pure willpower getting me through the actions of today. I have been busy too, which hasn’t helped….though I had a morning nap.
Sigh.
That’s all I have the energy for. Sorry to those I haven’t noted back yet, I will get back to you!! 🙂
Have you tried taking a multivit instead? I was low on iron – almost anemic – and the doctor said he wanted me to take Centrum. He didn’t seem to be a fan of just iron by itself.

I wonder if the above noter could be right. Maybe there are other vitamins you could take with the iron to help with the constipation? I have always suffered with constipation, and the only thing that helped was eating fiber foods, like whole wheat pasta or bread, and beans. lol. I know beans makes one gas, but it helped me. 😛 I hope you are able to figure it out, though!
