What my beliefs are to me

Well this could be a long entry:) But a few have asked what it is I do and so I am going to try and explain it as best I can here.

Firstly I am a pagan. I was initiated into a wiccan coven about 4 years ago. I lasted in the coven for about a year and now just recently have joined another coven also wiccan based but alot more eclectic ie. they take a bit of everything from modern wicca to high magik.

To me wicca is a nature based religion. I worship the gods and goddesses and mother nature. I honour the changeing of the seasons and how they effect my life through worship of the mother earth. I also celebrate them through ritual.

As a pagan I celebrate 8 festivals. Ok this is where it gets a bit confusing because I am in the souther hemisphere the seasons are rversed to those of the northern hemisphere. So I will put dates for both with Northern being in brackets:)

Winter Solstice June 21st this year(21st Dec)

The night of the winter solstice is the longest night of the year. Darkness triumps but it gives way and changes into light. The god give up his reign as Lord of the under world and is transformed in to an infant of the light. We wait for the coming dawn when the infant is reborn as God and starts his rule again over the coming lighter days. It is a time for us to let go of fears and doubts or anything in our life that holds us back from moving forward. On this longest night we renew our bodies and spirit self and we plant our seeds of change.

Imbolg August 1st (February 1st)

Is a celebration of the return of the maiden (goddess aspect) of spring. The crone undergoes her transformation into the maiden again. Imbolg meaning with in the belly is a time for us to venture forth with new projects and ideas. Is a time of initiation, a beginning where those seeds we planted will later sprout and come to life. This is the time of year where alot of things are happening beneath the earth. Sh is getting ready for spring.

Spring Equinox September 21st(March 21st)

This is the time that spring returns, when life bursts forth from the earth and the chain of winter is broken. Light and dark are equal. This is also a time where the seeds we planted at yule should burst forth and manafest in our lives.

Beltaine October 31st (1st May)

Beltaine is a fire festival and is opposite Samhain in the wheel of the year. The veils between the worlds are at their thinist at Smahin so it would stand to say that the worlds are furthest apart at Belatine. This is a fertility festival. It is a time when the spring maiden celebrates the fullness of her sexuality and she nad the god consumate their relationship. It is also a time of maypoles ( another fertility symbol). At this time of year ppl usd to jump through the bale fires to encourage fetility. Some still do today *g*. It is a fun festival full of loves and fun. The mother earth is singing and we join with her in her song.

Ok run out of time for this entry…will attempt another 4 festivals tonight.

just another little piece of me…..

Thanks for sharing these entries with me. I learnt a lot and I will probably be back with more questions – I feel that this is something I could feel at home with, if you know what I mean.
