Goodbyes (poem)

If only I could describe to you

How my heart jumps into my throat

How i choke and hold back tears

When you tell me there is someone new

But I cant

If only I could make you love me

Half as much as I love you

Half as much as I need you

How wonderful it would be

But I cant

I will never get what I need from you

I don’t think you’re capable of it

You only want what you cant have

And you know I am always there

You didn’t think I was strong enough

To walk away from you

Sorry but I think I am

I am going to try

I’ve got nothing left to loose

I gave it all to you

You sucked me dry of life

Somehow I have to get it back

And learn to live without you

So that’s what I am going to do

I’ll fill my nights and days

So I wont think of you

And try to forget

How your hand touched my face

Your soul touched my heart

I’ll forget all that

But I will remember always

That you once loved me

For a breif and passing mment

If only I knew when……
