Anzac Day (Poetry)

In one of those moods where I was looking through poetry I had written years ago….and guess what…decided to post it 🙂 Oh joy joy happy joy I hear you all cry….(not)

Well its mainly for me…the paper is deteriorating and its time to make a copy of it somewhere…here is as good a place as any. So if you decide you don’t like my poems…just skip any entry’s that have (Poetry) next to them from now on.

Anzac Day

As the bugal sounded

While the birds awoke

I stood on a hill with a thousand others

I mourned our dead soldiers

And hoped it would never happen again

Then my mind wandered to you

You’re rejoicing your life

While I mourn the death

Of our soldiers and our relationship

In our relationship I was the soldier

Battling to keep my sanity

While you kept trying to destroy me

So pardon me

If I don’t wish you many happy returns

For father dear

I am mourning today

I am mourning the death of my soul and innocence

Which died as cruely

And fought just as bravely

As our boys in Gallipoli

May we all rest in peace

…..”Lest We Forget”…..

What a wonderful idea, posting the (Poetry) alert in the title. After considering posting some of my own in my diary, I may borrow this idea. It is always my fear that someone will be sitting there thinking, “Oh God, not another poem!”, among other things.
