Scam??? **Edit
Sooo… I fell for a work from home scam… Sort of. But maybe I can make money?
The ad promised I could make a little extra money from home. Send $8 via paypal and they send you a disk that trains you to process applications and then you can make $10-$15 per application. I knew it was a scam… But I figured at least it was a cheap scam… So I fell for it.
So I got my disk today (this was more than I expected)… I can train you right now in what it trained me in. This is the business…
1) Place ads everywhere you can. Advertise a work-from-home position.
2) when people contact you for info, send them a letter explaining that they can work from home for you and you’ll train them etc.
3) Tell them that you will charge them (insert amount here) for the disk and shipping and handling.
4) Copy the disk you got in the mail and send it to them.
That’s it… So the person charged me $8 and I figure the disk, paper, envelope, and stamp probably cost her… about $3. So she made $5 by mailing that to me.
Is this wrong? Should I not do this? I have to admit it’s tempting… I mean, technically it is what it says it is… It teaches you to make money for each "application" you process… I’m an honest person, and it seems wrong on some level.. But still a little tempting. What do YOU think?
**Edit- It seems this IS a scam. I’d heard of a pyramid scheme before, but didn’t realize that this is exactly that. The only thing that makes it iffy as a pyramid scheme is that the maker of the scheme doesn’t continue to profit from each person’s sell… For example if I sold something for $10 that would all be mine. The maker of the scheme wouldn’t get $1 of it or whatever.
A pyramid scheme is a non-sustainable business model that involves the exchange of money primarily for enrolling other people into the scheme, usually without any product or service being delivered. It has been known to come under many guises
The essential idea behind each scam is that the individual makes only one payment, but is promised to somehow receive exponential benefits from other people as a reward. A common example might be an offer that, for a fee, allows the victim to sell the same offer to other people, or receive bonuses through other people they refer. Hahahahaha! Yeah, doesn’t sound familiar at all.. >.<
smart lol. id do it:P

You’re better off doing eBay. I find my best stuff at yard sales, Goodwill stores and (gulp!) in other people’s trash. Recently, I found a toy gun from the 50’s worth over $100. Is there anything on the disk? Reminds me of the “guaranteed to kill cockroaches” scam of the 1920’s. Buyers received two small blocks of wood and the instructions, “Place roach between blocks, and apply firm pressure.”
