RIP my dear husband.

Yesterday was quite a day. I got this crazy idea that Stephen, myself, and all three kids could actually survive a 14 hour road trip. I can’t believe I didn’t realize that there was no way Stephen could come out alive. My mom breeds dogs (She owns a kennel and breeds quality Gordon Setters- Not some puppy mill or anything like that) She is on vacation and one of her dogs came into season so I volunteered to make the 14 hour round trip to go pick up the stud dog to do the breeding for her. That is the beginning of a LONG day.

Stephen wanted to go by himself, but I decided we’d ALL go… So we did. Stephen whined a lot about taking all three kids on a 14 hour trip that ended at our house, but he got over it eventually. The kids were great. They couldn’t have been any better. They don’t get to watch much TV at home (Not because I think it’s terrible for them like the "experts" say, but because I’d rather be doing some fun project than have them sitting in front of the tv, but that’s another story). Well, for Christmas my mom got them a dual TV dvd player for the car. They were in heaven. They were so excited to get to watch tv for a ton of time yesterday. I had to make them turn them off for a while so that they could see the mountains in West Virginia.

So how did Stephen and I do? We had to sit next to each other with no one else to talk to for FOURTEEN (actually more like 17) hours. First of all, my husband is obnoxious. He is like a 6 year old. He loves to try to annoy people. It’s incredibly, well, annoying. But despite that, we had a great time!

Had we done this same trip a few months ago, I’m sure I’d have been in tears for at least part of the trip and we wouldn’t have talked for days. I did cry a bit, but only because I was laughing so hard. We reminisced about when we met and we laughed about inside jokes. I’m so glad we went now. Stephen and I officially know that we can actually talk and not kill each other and the kids thought it was the best time ever because they got to watch TV and eat McDonalds. My poor deprived kids. 🙂

That is sooo sweet! Glad that went well… but in 14 hours you could drive right around the North Island of NZ… Or, from the north of the north island to the south of the south island!!! I forget the US is such a damn big country!!! I think your kids are much less deprived than the poor sods that have a daily diet of TV and McDonalds…
