Vacation Plans

Earlier this year, David agreed to take a family vacation this summer. He is still agreeing to it. I’m a little surprised, I was pretty sure he would go back on his agreement by now. There are still two months before we plan to go, so he has time…

We talked about it over the weekend though and I went through my (rough) plans – we had already decided "beach" which for us basically means Houston or Corpus Christi as the nearest big city, so I asked him "Space Center or Texas State Aquarium?" He chose the aquarium which is in Corpus, so that is where we are going. We will spend two nights in San Antonio, seeing a few sights and visiting his aunts, then spend a night in Corpus Christi where we will visit the aquarium and an aircraft carrier, then spend 3 days/3 nights in Port Aransas on the beach. I just made reservations at this place: Kingfish Courts which are cottages 2 blocks from the beach. For – get this – $75 a night!!! That seems really cheap so hopefully they don’t turn out to be disgusting. I think it will be ok. Not sure how I talked myself into cooking on my vacation (the point of the cottage is that it has a kitchen) – but oh well. By that time we might be tired of eating out.

I don’t have too many other things planned. David was a little dubious about 3 days at the beach with no plans. Between now and then I’m sure I will find tons of things to do.

I have it planned out so we leave here on a Saturday morning and drive back on Friday. That gives me the weekend to get ready to go back to work. (Of course that will be an 8 hour drive back on Friday…yikes!)
