Update
Friday was my exam. It started at 8:30 in an office building downtown. I left home at 6:30 to make sure I got there on time. I drove around the area of the building a little bit looking for parking, but did find a lot my coworker had mentioned that was just $3 a day! Woohoo! Got up to the exam site about 8:00. It was on the 42nd floor of the building. There were probably 10 of us there taking an exam. The proctor had designed a seating chart of sorts where she had put a sticky on each desk with the exam number. (We were all taking the same level of exam, but there are different specialties. I think there were 4 different exams being given in the same room.) I was looking for my number, and she said "Oh, I put you over here." "Over here" was in front of the window. Facing out. A bay window (glass above my head too). From the 42nd floor. Well, that was a unique test-taking situation! Planes coming in to land at Love Field would just suddenly appear over my head (I could see through my peripheral vision in the window above me) and hang huge in the sky. In the afternoon it got kind of warm, but mainly I was so busy writing that it didn’t bother me.
The test itself was ok. There were 7 questions in the morning session and 8 in the afternoon. Some I knew, some I didn’t know. Hopefully not many that I didn’t know I didn’t know. I won’t get my results until July so I’m trying not to think about it overly much now.
Saturday I started by doing some housecleaning. All our video tapes and DVDs were in a big mess and it was bugging me, so I sat down and sorted them back out and got them matched up with their cases. In the process, I came across one of our home movies that said "Rebecca is born" on it. She wanted to watch it so I stuck it in. Before Rebecca’s birth, there were a couple of clips of Courtney. One of them I have got to get up on YouTube. It is Courtney at age 2 singing the first verse and chorus of American Pie. I had forgotten I had taught it to her. It is too funny.
I also bagged up about 5 garbage bags of clothes to donate. They had been in a huge pile on the floor of our closet, so it was really good to get them picked up!
Sunday I took the kids to church, then we went swimming at David’s parents’ house. It was still pretty chilly for me but the kids had fun. David’s mom gave me more of the stinky lavendar lotion that she is convinced I love. We gave her the girls’ school pictures in some picture frames. After we left there, David took the girls shopping for me for Mother’s Day. They got me Seasons 2 and 3 of 24. So we proceeded to watch the first 5 episodes of Season 2 last night! It’s hard to stop watching.
Today I am back at work. I am taking this Friday off. I messed up my June vacation – I was supposed to take off the week of June 11 so the girls could go to basketball camp, but I had never gotten it on the calendar at work. Last week, our CFO was trying to plan a big two-day meeting and sent out a note asking if the 12-13 was good for everyone. I had a brain freeze and replied "sure". So now it is set up, and someone is coming from California for it, so I can’t really back out now. Crap. I’m taking the next week off instead (I was really looking forward to that week off!) and I guess the girls will just have to miss basketball camp this year. While I was at it, I asked off for a week in August for our trip to Port Aransas (which David now says he doesn’t want to take, but WE ARE TAKING), just to get it on the calendar.
This week Thursday is Rebecca’s kindergarten graduation. I didn’t get to go to Courtney’s because it was the day after Ben was born and I was still in the hospital. Thursday is also Ben’s birthday. My parents are going to San Antonio for a wedding Friday night, so they are stopping here and spending the night Thursday. They won’t get to go to Rebecca’s graduation but they will be here for Ben’s party. Friday, I’m taking a vacation day and we’re going to see Shrek 3 after school.
LOL, you sound like my dad with your lavender lotion. He was saying this weekend that when he and my mom were first married that every time he went to my mom’s aunt’s house she would make him orange bread and shrimp cocktail. Because Dale loves them. He said he’d eat it even though he hated it. Kindergarden graduations are really cute. Happy birthday to Ben!
