Spring Break Trip
We left last Thursday mid-morning. The plan for Thursday was just to visit Jennifer, so there wasn’t a huge hurry to get there and I was trying to get laundry finished so I wouldn’t have a ton to do when we got back. The trip up was uneventful – took about 3 hours. My mom and dad had come down to Jennifer’s earlier that morning. My mom was planning to stay the weekend but my dad had to go back that afternoon because he had some baby calves he was worried about. So Thursday we just spent hanging out at Jennifer’s, playing with Reese and Hadley.
Here she is, baby Reese:
Here is how the bedding I made looks all put together in her room:
My mom stayed with us in our hotel room. Rebecca was excited to stay in a hotel room because she couldn’t remember ever staying in one. Probably the last time she did was when we moved back to TX from Indiana in 2003. After a while she said the hotel room was boring and she was mad she had been looking forward to it LOL. All we did in the hotel was watch TV:
Friday we went to IHOP for breakfast. Emily and her girls were driving over to spend the day. She met us at IHOP. Our first stop was the Sam Noble museum on the OU campus. It’s a natural history museum with dinosaur bones and Native American exhibits. (among others). My nightshot got turned on my camera & I didn’t notice, hence the green tint. Here is from L-R: Reilly, Hadley, Rebecca, Courtney, Brynn, Benjamin.
Here is the dinosaur they are in front of – it holds the Guiness World Record for largest skull.
After that museum, we went to eat in Bricktown at the restaurant where Jennifer used to work. It was good but kind of crazy with so many kids. We managed though.
Then we went to the National Cowboy Hall of Fame & Museum. There was an area where the kids could dress up:
The rest of the museum was interesting but various kids were having various meltdowns at various stages in the museum so we finally gave up and left. The three little ones were desparately missing their naps. Emily left to go back home (they were leaving the next morning for a week in Mexico with her church). The rest of us went back to Jennifer’s and stayed for the evening.
Saturday we went to Little River Zoo in Norman. It was more of a refuge than a zoo, but it was pretty fun. We could get close to the animals. Here’s a black bear:
I got some video of the kids petting a porcupine and a ball python.
That was the end of the adventures – Saturday afternoon we went to the hotel to try to get Benjamin to nap (he didn’t but my mom did) then back to Jennifer’s for dinner. Sunday we dropped off my mom at Jennifer’s and came home.
Fun trip!

Reese is gorgeous! Your kids are beautiful as usual. Ben is getting so big. If I had a $1 for everytime I have been to the Cowboy Hall of fame, I’d be rich. My grandpa always wanted to go there whenever he was down to visit us.
