Room Mother

Courtney’s class is having an ice cream sundae party Friday as a reward for learning their multiplication facts. (It’s actually the whole third grade having the party). So the room mother for her class & I have been exchanging emails about what items are needed and what I will bring (the emails are between a few other parents too but apparently no one else is volunteering to bring anything). This was the last email I got from her before today:

Okay, here’s the latest info.
The things in red are still up for grabs.

Sally made a good point, I think the Ice Cream and Whipped Cream will have to be brought by the attending parent/s.  I know I’ll be there, but if anyone else is going to have time, then maybe we can split the cold foods load?

(3) Half gallons of vanilla ice cream – ??
(2) cans of Redi whip topping – ??
(1) Large bottle of chocolate syrup – Sally
(1) Large bag of plain M&M’s – Sally
(1) Bottle of Marachino Cherries – Sally
(1) Ice Cream scoop – ??
(1)Cooler – Sally

Sally, if you’ll just give me a head’s up when you’ll be sending in your items then I’ll make sure to pick them up that afternoon.  Anytime between now and say 2 days before the party is okay by me.  Just let me know what’s good for you, and thanks for helping so much with the supplies!

So I sent her this email last night:

Crystal,
I’ll send the cooler, M&Ms, chocolate syrup, & cherries tomorrow. Courtney usually gets to school around 7:30 so I told her she might leave the cooler in the office – I’ll stick a note on it with your name on it.
Thanks,
Sally

I got this response from her this morning:

Do you mean that that stuff is sitting at the school right now!?!?!?

It’s a 20 minute drive to the school for us, and Erin [4 yr old] is asleep.
I really [really] wish you had given me a bit more notice,
that’s why I asked about it a week ago.
Not good… by the time I get her up and drive over there the bell will be ringing and it’ll be
a nightmare.  I’ll have to park a mile away, carry her, and then try and carry a cooler too.
But if I wait a bit for the traffic to clear, then I’ll have to deal with a cranky secretary,
and a cranky baby… Oh man oh man…

Well… wish me luck.

Uh, WTF??? Let’s review the last message she sent me: Sally, if you’ll just give me a head’s up when you’ll be sending in your items then I’ll make sure to pick them up that afternoon.  Anytime between now and say 2 days before the party is okay by me.

Yeah. That’s what I did.

Then about an hour later I get:

I’m sorry I panicked…

Yesterday my mother in law called to tell me that the trip her, her daughter and other son have been planning for weeks is Saturday… and we’re required to be there… so I’ve been running around like a maniac trying to pack…
Not to mention the… looks… I get sometimes up at Corey…
Being a young parent tends to get people’s nickers in a twist…
I panicked worse because I haven’t even had my shower this morning!
I look an absolute fright.

In any case, I’m sorry I took my panic out on you.  That was incredibly rude of me.
I really am thankful that you were able to help with all this, if you hadn’t I would
have had to provide the whole kit and caboodle.  Hope you can forgive me.

Crystal

Again, WTF. Like I care about her mother-in-law. And what does being a young mother have to do with anything? (Other than not being able to spell knickers). Maybe people give her…looks…because she’s a flake and not because she’s young, hmmm?

Whatever. I feel like sending her a snippy email saying that Courtney walks home from school so I’m going to need her [Crystal] to drop the cooler by my house later that evening, since no one will be able to pick it up from school after the party. Hah.

She doesn sound like a flake. Her email was rude. It irritated me and it wasn’t even address to me.

that lady sounds crazy! why would it be so hard to pick up the cooler. she could have probably left it i the office for an extra day and nobody would’ve cared. then she mentioned she had to carry a ‘cranky baby’ a 4 yr old is not a baby!
