Mom Duty: Done
I went to the PTA meeting last night. I really hate PTA meetings. They make me feel like I’m back in junior high.
You know how in junior high, if you ever had to be in an assembly or something and your normal friends weren’t around? And all the cool girls were talking to each other, and you might make a tiny wave at the cool girl you let borrow your math homework last week, but she just looks through you? Or you smile at the girl you were friends with in gradeschool, before she became a cheerleader and you joined the band, but she doesn’t smile back? And then finally, the weird girl who is last chair clarinet comes and sits next to you and you realize that as weird as she is to you, that is how weird you are to the cool girls?
Yeah.
So at the PTA meeting, all the cool officers in their matching pink shirts were talking, and I said hi to the mom whose daughter used to go to the same daycare as my kids, but she acted like she didn’t know me, and I smiled at a mom that I spent some kid’s birthday party chatting to, but she just looked at me, and then finally the weird mom of the weird kid who threw up in his hands at kindergarten graduation came and sat next to me.
And, during the meeting they said they need volunteers, please we always need volunteers up at school to work in the classrooms or the workroom, even if you work if you could just give an hour a semester that would really help, oh but you have to attend this mandatory volunteer orientation which is at 2:00 on a Tuesday.
I’m not real fond of the PTA right now.
Boo to PTA. I love your description though.

ryn: LOL, I have to have my sister live close to me because it’s not like we see each other every day at work. Her office is about 15 feet from mine.
