Apres Moi, le Deluge

We have been having more and more rain. I drove home in a flood both Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Tuesday especially, I had to go through some high water and was hoping I didn’t get stuck! You always see people on TV saying "I guess the water was too high" (when they’ve been rescued after driving into high water) and I’m always thinking "ya think??" so I did not want to be one of those people!

I bought Courtney a guitar yesterday off Craigslist. I had bought her one for her birthday from Target that turned out to be a piece of crap. It wouldn’t stay tuned, and then I broke one of the strings trying to tune it, and only then did I realize that there’s no way to replace the strings. So I’ve been looking for a real, cheap (and real cheap) guitar. I had to drive from work in NE Ft Worth to SW Ft Worth to get it but it’s a nice guitar for only $20. I’m going to try to teach myself a little bit and then teach her.

I ordered the last Harry Potter book today from Amazon! It is supposed to ship on July 20. I figured, $17.99 for a hardback book is pretty good and not to have to fight crowds to buy it is a plus. I had thought to put a hold on it at the library but a box came up: "There are 123 holds on this book. Do you still want to place a hold?" Aagh.

Today is my cousin Tyler’s birthday, that I have mentioned being in an accident a couple weeks ago & losing his arms. He is 17. I sent him a no-sew fleece blanket that I "made" (I cut fringe around the edges). I thought he might like that, being in the hospital. It has horses on it, he comes from a ranching/rodeoing family.

He has had several skin grafts. The latest is on his right foot and they are afraid that it won’t "take". Once all his grafts are healed and he is medically able to travel, he will go to a rehab hospital in Houston. (he is in Tulsa now).

I am so glad it’s Friday, I can’t stand it. It’s monthend too so I’m busy which should make the afternoon fly by.
