Sent home early

I got sent home early from work today.  That has never happened before, especially this time of the year.   They are only allowing me 19 hours this week and I have to work on Saturday at least half a day.  So when I reached 15 hours I was told to go home.  Well I went over a bit so Saturday will be a rushed day.  They will learn the hard way though.  I worked 26 hours last week and they were mad about that.  I work for a merchandising company and we work in Walmart stores.  The busiest chain of stores there is and we had Black Friday last week what do they expect?  Anyway not a problem for me to go home early.  I should tell them when I am allowed more hours I won’t be working them.  I know what January will bring too.  They will probably tell me no more than 8-10 hours a week.  I will just have to find a new job I guess.

I am currently looking as it is.  Just not much around. I really should go full time because I need the benefits, (vacation, 401K, insurance would be nice). My husband has a meeting at 2 today and he said it’s a Thursday on payday.  That is usually when they lay people off.  Hope it’s not bad news.   We are expecting it sometime though.  Why not everyone else is laying off who is going to be buying Super Computers when even the car companies can’t keep up with the times!  Just the fact of life.  But for the last 22 years we have been going thru this so we are pretty sure it’s coming with the economy in such a slump and only getting worse.  We have prepared and saved alot too.  Maybe we won’t be taking the kids to Mexico for spring break.  If I can’t find a deal anyway. 

I am going to work on my X-mas card this afternoon and get them done and sent out.  I did a photo card this year.  Try and do it every other year or every year.  They are actually cheaper to do than buying X-mas cards. And you can get the exact amount so you don’t have any left!  That is always nice.

It’s cold here today only around 18 degrees and down to 4 tonight and with the wind it will feel like below zero.  Think I will stay home.  I have to start my shopping.  I am totally clueless this year as to what to get anyone!  I hate it.  I usually have some kind of idea but nobody even the kids have mentioned anything.  Maybe they will jsut get money since gift cards are not a good idea this year.  You hear so many rumors.  Our mall is really struggling.  The rent is so high and they have to pay double in the winter months because of all the plowing they do.  The parking lot is huge so the stores have to pay part of the plowing fees.  Which means they need to sell more in the winter months and when Jan & Feb are slow months that is hard to do.  I think we will see a few stores go out of business.  It will be a very intersting year next year.  A scarey one I should say too. 

Well I better get to my card might finish them by the time the mailman goes by.
