Monday Morning Accidents

Not a good way to start out a Monday.  I got into a car

accident on my way to work this morning.  Thankfully it was not my fault.  I was getting ready to turn onto the express way and the lady in front of me stop quick.  I was able to stop but when I looked in my rear view mirror the lady behind me was looking down and I knew she wasn’t going to stop.  She slammed into me and then I hit the car in front of me.  Well both vehicles were the same kind of car I think they were Dodge Caravans.  Both the same color too.  Anyway, nobody gets out. I was not about to get out because I was still in the turn lane.  The lady in front of me barely got over so I coudn’t move.  Traffic is flying by and people are trying to get around.  I just sat there.  They both got on their cell phones so I assumed they were calling the police.  I just sat there and waited and saw the cop coming.  Still nobody got out.  He walked up and asked if I was ok and I told him I was.  He said I want to ask the lady ahead of you if she is alright.  Nobody got hurt except our cars.  My air bag didn’t even deploy.  I was thankful for that because I have heard they are exspensive to replace.  So he takes all our information and cites the lady behind me.  

He goes on to tell my right muffler is hanging pretty low and looks like it could fall off.  And if it does and it causes another accident I would be held criminally liable.  He definately recommended that I don’t go on the freeway with it hanging like that.  I was only 1.5 miles from home.  So the only way to work is the highway so I decide I am not going to go to work. I call  my manager and she is totally understanding.  Doesn’t want me at work lifting heavy boxes and then having trouble tonight with my neck or back.  I can make up the hours another day.  I think I may go in on Wed instead and do my books.  

Now I have to get the estimates.  I thought the front and back would be totally trashed.  The front I can’t find anything wrong with but will still have them check it out in case there is a problem with struts or brakes or anything inside.  The back bumper is pretty much trashed and will have to be replaced.  It wraps around the car so I know it will be exspensive.  My car is a Nissan Maxima.  I think parts of the quarter panel on one side is messed up too.  So I am sure it will be pricey.  It always is.  If one part is messed up, it can mess up alot more parts.  We will see.  I still can’t believe nobody got out of their car to see if anyone was ok.  Like I said I was not getting out with the traffic going by so I guess they were thinking the same thing. 

Anyway this is just for my personal reference too in case there are any questions I have it documents.  Just glad I didn’t get a fine or ticketed. Hopefully our insurance doesn’t go up.  Our older son’s insurance is getting ready to drop since he is going on 21 and no accidents or speeding tickets.  I just can’t remember how much the deductable is.  I hope we didn’t raise it to a higher one to keep premuims down.  UUGGGHHH!
