San Francisco
I had a wonderful time in San Francisco. I was able to stay at the Sheraton on Fisherman’s Wharf. It was very nice, although I had a hard time finding my room the first night. Then I laid down bread crumbs and everything went smooth. The hotel had lots of halls and of course the rooms were set back. The main thing was the decor. The walls were blue and white horizontal stripes. So when you looked down the hall, you couldn’t tell where the next hallway intersected. I told the concierge that it felt like a maze, but I found the cheese. It really was very nice.
The first night I walked over to Pier 39 and had chowder and garlic sourdough. hmmmmmm.
Friday I rented a car and drove to San Jose to see my great aunt. She is 89. While she has be wheelchair bound for many years since her stroke, it is always wonderful to see and talk with her. George is so gracious. He gave us lots of alone time to talk with each other, but I love talking with him also.
That night I went shopping around the hotel, Fun, fun, fun.
Saturday I rented another car, it was $50 a night to park at the hotel, and drove to Lockeford for a family Thanksgiving dinner with my Mom’s brothers and sister. That was really delightful. I didn’t tell them I was coming. Boy, were they surprised! It was just a wild idea I got when I saw their flyer and everything fell into place.
Sunday was a day for me. I went to Ghiradelli Square and had coffee and a huge cookie. Then I caught the ferry to Sausalito and shopped. It was a beautiful day, sunny, warm. I found wonderful treasures for Madilyn, and a couple of my nieces. There was an incredible burger place. The meat was more than an inch thick, after it was cooked, and 5 inches across. Once assembled with all the trimmings, it had to be eaten in sections. There was no way to get your mouth completely around it.
That evening I found more treasures for Madilyn at Barnes and Noble near the hotel. I found a Dora, Boots, Diego, Baby Jaguar and the 3 Wonder Pets. I gave her the Wonder Pets, but am saving the Dora and Diego creatures for Christmas.
I’m jealous Nancy, not gonna lie. Love the picture!
