The fuuuuuuun has arriiiiiived!
I watch too many movies.
Here for my monthly check-in, I guess. I don’t come here very often anymore. Oops.
General updateishness…
Abigail is struggling a bit in school, and we’re working to get to the bottom of it. We don’t want to hold her back unless it’s absolutely necessary, and if we hold her back without figuring out how to help her, it will all be for naught. She’s such a sweet kid, and I hate to see her struggle. She may be doing a summer school program, which Eric’s parents have graciously offered to help with the costs. I know a lot of kids would freak at the notion of summer school, but Abby would love it… lol. Tomorrow I’m visiting a local horse farm and may be signing Abigail up for Horse Camp over Spring Break. She wants to go, but feels nervous about spending all day at a new place without anybody she knows. So we’ll see.
Austin is getting fat. I don’t say that because I’m a mean mom. It’s the truth. Yes, he’s always been large, but this year he’s put on quite a bit of weight and now it’s getting concerning. The school is working with us to try and change his diet. I’m hoping nicer weather decides to grace us with its presence as well, because I’m sure the inactivity that comes with winter hasn’t helped. Aside from being overly pudgy, Austin is doing well.
We are in the home stretch for our adoption application/home study. The kids have physicals within the next week, and our case manager will be contacting our personal references soon. We have one more all-day class to attend on April 13th, and after that we’re gold. We’ve sent inquiries about 4 different girls. We’ll see what happens.
Eric’s grandma (my favorite member of his family) will be leaving us soon. If you recall, she’s been in assisted living for a couple years now due to Parkinson’s and, more recently, Dementia. A couple weeks ago she had a pulmonary embolism and wound up in the ICU for a bit. They placed filters in her leg to catch the rest of the clots, but then she took another turn for the worse and they discovered even more clots near her lungs. She was transferred to hospice a few days ago. We visited her yesterday, and I can tell her time is coming. I would be surprised if she makes it through the week, and honestly I wish she would go soon. She has suffered long enough, and it is really difficult to watch. First because I love her like my own grandma, and also because it brings back memories I don’t care to relive.
Eric and I are, apparently, writing a book. Lord help us… lol.
glad to see you back. 🙂 i am glad that things are going well with the adoption. 🙂
