Lots of Stuff

Dear Diary,
Well it’s been a while.  I’ve been pretty busy and having tremendous learning experiences!  A couple of weeks ago I met my son his fiance for lunch in Allentown.  My mom came as well and we had a nice visit.  Before my son arrived my mother and I took a walk along a trail by a brook.  My mother LOVED it.  She walked quite well but had to be helped because her eyesight is not very good.  She came alive in the woods and I believe that it is the energy of nature that creates health in folks.  I have experienced that many many times while hiking the trail.
We first saw this patch of bamboo so I walked over to check it out and discovered that there was a trail on the other side.  The bamboo woods were easy to walk through so I knew my mother would not have a problem walking through them.  The Bamboo Patch

My mom walking to the other side.  She loved it!

My mom on the bank of the brook.  She made me take her cane away LOL.  This is just before her 82nd birthday!

This is the brook…
Soon after, my son and his fiance arrived and we met them for lunch at a German Restaurant called the Black Forest.  Fitting….lol

This is my son and his fiance.
My son and "grandmother" are engaged in a serious conversation lol

We had a very nice lunch but I had to get mom back and get back myself to get ready for school the next day.
On the way home we came upon a field of seagulls.  There were hundreds of them.  I had to get a picture of them standing, flying and leaving LOL
Standing….
Me chasing them…as they begin to fly….Flying away…look how many there were….it was quite a sight.  My mother was laughing in the car as I was chasing them with my camera….
The next week I was planning on leaving Wednesday for the peaceweavers week long fasting retreat.  I took 3 days off to go and I am so glad I did.
I left on Wednesday morning and arrived home the following Sunday evening.  Thank goodness I had off on Monday because it is a 6 hr. drive.  I love it up there and unfortunately I forgot to get batteries for the camera so no pictures.  We were kept pretty busy because we did not eat for 4 days.  The juices they made were so nourishing though that I was not starving but I was hungry some of the time.  I kept smelling cookies at night and I also thought about Dunkin Donuts Corn Muffins alot. LOL
I learned about skin brushing which I love. We learned a lot about nutrition and fasting.  We walked everyday and I’m telling you it was COLD.  Most mornings it was in the single digits and by walk time it was in the teens with wind!  I love the area so it was not hard for me to walk.  The mountains are SO BEAUTIFUL!  It was so relaxing up there and PEACEFUL.  It was difficult to leave….
Last night I took my mom to a Peace Gathering at Princeton University, in the chapel.  WHAT AN EVENT!  It was AWESOME!
I took these with my phone because I FORGOT my camera…sheesh….so it is not a great picture.  The candles are a medicine wheel that the peaceweavers set up in the middle of the floor.  You can see some of the drums…
There were about 350 to 400 people there and most of them were drumming along.  It was incredible!

It was dark in there so the images are not clear.  The short woman with white hair and dressed in black is mom. The woman next to her is Nebi Kar…a wonderful woman who directs and owns the Khalsa Healing Arts Center in Princeton.  She took such care of mom it was so nice to see….
My mom was getting ready for the baby blessing which she was a part of.  She gave a beautiful blessing.

This is a picture of everyone drumming but it is so dark…lol

This is one of the babies that were blessed…so cute at 5 weeks…
I am getting batteries TOMORROW!
I plan on going back up to the peaceweavers on the 15th of February for the weekend.
Well that is all I have to report…
I went to a benefit ROCK concert this afternoon for an old band member who was diagnosed with cancer.
The place was packed, the much LOUD and a bunch of old rockers…
The energy was not good in there so I didn’t stay long but I participated in the Chinese auction and stayed with Cookiepuss who was one of the organizers.  I left about 4:30.  I’m glad a lot of folks showed up to help him out!
I am putting on a Valentine Breakfast for the teachers in school on Valentine’s Day so I am looking forward to that.  It’s will be lots of fun!
Peace
LYB

I am jealous. some day some time.. I will do something like your fasting retreat///

Sounds like life is good! Big Hugs

The fasting retreat was interesting to read about. I haven’t been on a retreat since I had children. Even going into the hospital to have Ben was tramatic for my older son. Going away isn’t an option at the moment. I loved the pictures of it, too. The darkness added to the atmosphere.

Your mom looks much younger than her age!

Your mom looks good. There is bamboo growing in New Jersey?

I re-read the first part, so was the bamboo in PA? Anyway, I don’t think of bamboo forests in either place.

“a harpie in spirit.” heh, i think all women can be that, it’s a primal part of their nature,.. i live in keene, southwestern NH,..:)

“an air of “self confidence”.” hahaha i have an ego that makes the Atlantic look like a mud puddle,..;)

“puts ALL women” heh, i generalize, we all do, it simplifies the context, i am of the opinion that it’s up to the individual(male or female) to step out of the mainstream and shine in their own light, this is the value of the ego, of course like anything if it’s premise is false then it is of little value,i tend to avoid modesty, i don’t see it as a worthwhile endeavor unless you wish to hide amongst the masses,..o.o
