It’s been a while but i have been……
Dear Diary,
It’s been a while. I have been busy with school and the year. I was up at the Peaceweavers again this time for their harvest weekend. I had a great time as well as my mother. My mom drove up with me and spent the weekend as an elder for weekend. We picked pumpkins, had a square dance and did sweatlodge.
This is GL dressing up with the kids. They were so cute.
This is a picture of my mother. She’ll be 83 in January. She had a blast!!
Square dancing was loads of fun. I was taking a break and taking pictures.
Here is Mr. Pumpkin I carved. He looks a tad scared lol.
I also went hiking for a weekend at Harriman Park in New York. I had a great time with the "guys".
One woman asked me if their wives minded me going with 4 men. I laughed…are you kiddning me? We have been hiking together for a long time. We’re old now lol
This was part of the trail. We took the Long Path instead of the Appalachian Trail which a little bit more rugged and not very well maintained. Because of that though, we were able to walk through some very beautiful undisturbed forest.
We found several mines and were able to get to a few. Here, I am climbing down one of the mines. The water was so clear that I didn’t think it was water.
I took a few pictures from below.
Here R Jr. had to break away some trees so we could get past. I think he just like breaking them. The path was riddled with fallen trees and branches.
A little blurry but this is one of the mines. I didn’t go into this one because it was very narrow and didn’t feel like getting stuck.
This was another portion of the trail. The leaves looked like an autumn carpet. The colors were amazing!!
We hid our packs and walked to the Lemon Squeezer which is on the Appalachian Trail. We climbed around for a while then walked back to our packs. The Appalachian Trail and the Long Path intersect each other at a point in Harriman Park.
This was our shelter. The weather turned quite brisk towards the even so R. Jr. made a fire. We all gathered the wood. R. Sr.’s tent is in the shelter. I slept on a small ledge facing the shelter.
My sleeping bag was damp because my water bladder leaked inside my pack. (I threw it out when I came home).
I devised this drying procedure to dry it out. It worked quite well. No way was I going to sleep on a damp bag!
This is a view of the shelter as we approached it. Down hills can be more challenging then ups.
This is a really beautiful fall scene. The colors were blazing as though the trees were ablaze!
This was the last road walk before we arrived back at our vehicles. A and I finished about 20 minutes before. The trail was not easy to follow. The blazes were obscured from view in many places as well as on the ground from the bark that had fallen from the tree.
Here are the guys after two days of hiking. I’d say they don’t look too worse for ware.
All in all it was a great weekend.
The situation downstairs is no better. They sent him the letter and of course he blamed me by coming to my door, screaming and yelling. I called the management and told them about it. I told him that this was between him and the management and to step away from my door.
The management informed me that he is leaving but I have a feeling it will be a long time before that happens. I, in the meantime will be looking for something more quiet.
<span style="display: none”>Work is going well.
Peace.
