Hindu’s and Grandmother?

Dear Diary,

Well tis the season.   The red and green days are here!  I had a very nice thanksgiving at Cookiepuss’s house.  Joining us were her mother in law, sister in law and her two children and her daughter, son in law and grandson.  My mother was with us as well.

This is my mother who will be 83 in January.  She looks pretty good and is as sharp as a tack!

On my way to Cookiepuss’s house I stopped for gas at a station in a nearby small town.   I found out that the station is owned by Hindu’s who came from India.  I occasionally speak to them and they are pretty friendly people.  I usually get out of my truck to assist them with having to walk around the car for my money.  Well this time I was standing near the back of my truck when one of them wished me a happy Thanksgiving.  I said thank you of course and mentioned that I do not eat turkey because I am a vegetarian.  He then told me he grew up vegetarian but now eats pork, lamb, chicken and turkey.  He told me he grew up vegetarian and his wife is a vegetarian.  I didn’t say anything; just listened.  He went to attend other customers but when he came back he stated to me that he is going to stop eating meat.  He said thank you to me because I reminded him that it is not good to eat dead food.   The other attendant who was a vegetarian said that people who do not eat meat have a different heart and think differently.  I shook my head in acknowledgement.  The meat eating guy said he was not going to eat meat any longer.

They again walked away attending customers.  I finished up my gas, put the cap on and walked over to the booth window to pay.  He came out and as there was a line of cars waiting, he told me that he owes me and he said, "I LOVE YOU…THANK YOU…and gave me the biggest hug!

The other guy came and hugged me too!  I was flabbergasted but felt grateful at the same time.  He told me he would speak to his wife that evening to no longer cook meat for him.  They told me their names and I told them mine.  I then drove away with a big smile on my face and a chuckle in my heart.   When I told Cookiepuss she laughed!

My son told me that they are having a child…I guess this means I will be a grandmother.

I swiped this from Woman in the Moon’s diary…It speaks for itself.

Congratulations! I have been waiting to hear good news about your son and his wife and have been praying for them to see how important you are in their lives! I’m so happy for you. I’m sure it was torture just waiting for the phone to ring, but it worked! I’m just a lurker who enjoys reading about the Peaceweavers and your hiking adventures! Peace! Robin
