Caught in the Rain

Sometimes in life there are moments.. just moments that shine and stick out.. even when they are fleeting or not meant to be held on to but just enjoyed for what they are.

I worked late tonight, not terribly late, and normally the sun would still have been out heating things up. Today, though, when I stepped outside the tall glass office doors, the sky was dark with rolling clouds being pushed by a very insistent wind. The same wind that whipped my short red hair across my face and molded my black silk skirt to my legs. It blew the white crape myrtle flowers through the air around me like rain. It was a little surreal how chaotic and yet beautiful the moment was — then there was rain, drizzle to splotches to torrents in about 2 minutes, just the amount of time I had to duck back under the eaves. The wind blew the rain in sideways and Livia, dear sweet Livia, went back inside to get her umbrella.
Within minutes my skirt and top clung to me, outlining pretty much everything, but I had to wait for the shuttle to get back to my truck so I stood there watching it rain. A man from the upstairs office came out, I turned thinking it was Livia — turned almost right into him. We both smiled. "It’s really coming down" he said. I nodded. Somehow the small enclosure seemed smaller and more intense. There was a very alive pressure in the air. The door opened as someone ran out into the parking lot to meet a car, causing the man to take a step closer to me.
"Is that Red Door you’re wearing?" Now I looked right at him.
"It is"
"It’s one of my favorite scents."
I felt a slight blush creeping onto my cheeks. "I am waiting on the shuttle."
"I parked on the top floor of the parking garage"
"Oh no" I laughed. "Your poor suit, it will get soaked."
He looked down at his tailored pin striped jacket.
"I think it will survive. I have to pick up my dog before the vet closes"
He took off his glasses and opened his jacked and slid them into the pocket to keep them dry.
"Well good luck" I said.
"Thank you." He said and dashed out into a hazy mist of downpour.

RyN: Thank you for taking the time to answer. As I’ve said I understand, but wanted to make sure you were truly ok. I get the being anti social. Call me when you get past the feeling…miss you too!

Lovely. =)

RYN: Actually, I was going through old entries of mine and you’d noted me under another name. =)
