House update
Since, you know, I never talked about it again. It definitely hasn’t been the easiest deal, that’s for sure! We made our original offer the last day of April. Two days later they countered and we accepted (because really it was a very fair listing price, I almost felt bad making a lower offer). Enter home inspection. For the most part the place is in good condition. The electric is new (circuit breaker) but the outlets need to be updated for 3 prong plugs. We’ve been living in a house with 2 prong outlets for so long that’s not a top priority. He said a new roof in the next 8-10 years probably, a few super minor things like blocking off an unused dryer vent, covering a couple dead outlets in the basement, etc. So we get to the last area of the house, like very last, and in the attic crawlspace of the master suite addition there’s mold. Obviously that wasn’t something we were willing to mess around with so we ask that be taken care of.
They come back saying they’ll install more vents in the attic, but want to do a basic bleach job on the mold. Which we weren’t comfortable with. So our Realtor requested $$ back at closing and we’d hire someone ourselves and they said no to that. Meanwhile their Realtor was playing it up like we were being totally unreasonable and saying it was no big deal. At that point we were honestly considering scrapping the whole thing. We went ahead and got a quote to get it fixed and the first one was $5K-6K, um, yikes (sure, yeah, some bleach will totally fix the issue). Our Realtor called another guy he has used personally and that guy said $2K-3K which is more like what we expected. But the sellers wouldn’t budge or compromise at all. Our guy said he thinks it’s the Realtor, he does not like her at all. I guess he has called her on a few shady things and she backpedals and tries to pretend that wasn’t what she meant….whatever.
Anyway, the ultimate solution works out so that our Realtor is paying for it in a roundabout way. The sellers had asked for reduced commission saying they couldn’t afford it and didn’t know they needed to bring $$ to closing, blah blah. He was going to agree to that, but decided in the end to require they pay full commission and use some of that to get the mold fixed. It went on for awhile. But the appraisal went forward with no issue last week and we just submitted our insurance and title paperwork when we got back from Nashville so we’re still on schedule to close the 23rd. Just crazy it took so long to work everything out, but maybe that’s normal?
Even more crazy we’re buying a freaking house! I have so much anxiety about moving, but at least we know it will be the last time for awhile. I’m really nervous about Riley and if it’s going to throw her off. I’m hoping since all her familiar stuff will be there and obviously we’ll be there that she’ll settle in okay. It makes me sad to think about taking her away from the only home she has known!
Anyway, really not much going on besides that (isn’t that enough?) We pulled the goalie, so to speak, starting this month. I decided this time around to not chart, at least not right away, so we’ll see what happens. With Riley I was charting months before we even started trying and we got pregnant the first month. I know that’s not the norm and I’m trying not to expect it to happen again, but at the same time I know I kinda will. Part of me is freaking out about the thought of another kid, but I know definitively I want more and really don’t want to be having kids too far into my 30’s. If I got my wish of having 4 spacing them like this I’d be 33 for the last, but in reality I think 3 is the most Phil is willing to go for. We’ll see what happens.
I am rather annoyed I never got down to my pre-pregnancy weight. I’m about 12 lbs away (or was before vacation :P) I’m sure part of that is that I’m still nursing, even though it’s just morning and night now. I know a lot of women have said they didn’t lose the last 10-15 until weaning and seeing as I’ll likely wean once I’m already KU it could be awhile before I can be less plus sized again *sigh* Those pesky babies.
Speaking of baaaaabies, mine is 13 months old! About 3 weeks ago she took her first steps and now will walk (slooooowly) across the kitchen or short distances in the living room without prompting, so she’s getting used to it. She had gotten 3 teeth in the last month (after having none up to her 1st birthday!) and is cutting a 4th currently. We had a very rough night sleep-wise last night and she’s pretty restless tonight – crying out in her sleep and rolling into the side of the crib every so often. Poor thing. She says mama, daddy, ball, gentle, what’s that?, I see, up, and all done, will bark when you ask what the doggie says, roars at the lion in her Spot book, and will sometimes tell you what the monkey says. Oh she’s also obsessed with utensils. She wants to eat off a plate, not her high chair, will eat about half a Greek yogurt cup with a spoon (the rest with her hands) and eats almost her entire dinner with a fork, which I mostly have to load for her, but she’s trying really hard.
And she’s cute!

Buying a house sounds so overwhelming and anxiety-inducing! And lol @ “pulling the goalie”!

I’ve never bought a house so I don’t know if that’s normal, but I can’t believe they were acting like mold isn’t a big deal because it is. Your baby is so cute! 🙂 Haha. Love the pics. RYN: I have heard of Couch to 5K and actually already planned on using it once I get the hang of walking. I think it’ll be a while before I try it because I have to be comfortable with walking 3.1 miles before I can try running any. I’m going to work on walking 1 mile for a couple of weeks and then up it to 2 and then 3… etc. 🙂 I’m hoping *crosses fingers* that I can get down to between 175-185 by ChiCon. That means I’d have to lose 1.5 pounds weekly between now and then. If I put my mind to it I’m sure I can do it. I just have this problem that I like food too much. LOL

Buying our house definitely had some hassles – I kind of feel like it’s a wedding, something always happens, it’s just best to go with the flow. You will love having your own place! The best is decorating as you please (or enjoying it after all the elbow grease). You should post pics! Cute baby 🙂 ~

Your child is adorable! We moved to a different apartment (in the same complex) when my daugter was your age (maybe a little older). She had no problem adjusting. We then moved again when she was 2. Our house was being re-done and the date they gave us was really off. So we moved into my moms for a 2 months and then to the house. It was a bit more of a rough transition for my daughter. She kept

saying she wanted to go home. Today actually we drove by our old apartments and I told her that’s where we used to live when she was a “baby” (she’s 3 now). She looked at me and said no. I think that living at my moms and then moving into our house really confused her!
