Summer in Europe!?
This morning my roommates and I had breakfast together. Isabella made us scrambled eggs and bacon. Kelli had her tea and I added a bowl of cereal. We had just got back from Kickboxing class, although on our walk back, we stuck our thumbs out and hitched a ride from a cute boy in his truck!
We were laughing and visiting as usual, yet we were constantly aware at how much we all got along. Often, there were conversations like this…
“You know, it really is a blessing that we ended up together… the four of us just seem to have this bond,” Susan commented one day. I nodded. It was so true. We watched movies together, we baked together, we took kickboxing together, we had deep intellectual conversations together, we all had the same group of guy friends… but at the same time, we all did our own thing. Each one of us was so different from the other, yet we had already formed this great friendship. Nobody ever fought. Nobody ever was rude to the other. We all split grocery bills, we took turns cleaning, and we loved to plan get-togethers like dinners with wine and candle light for our lucky neighbor boys. We loved to go out and dance at the clubs, but we tried not to do it all the time so it wouldn’t get boring. This weekend, we are hopefully going to hike to the top of the San Francisco peaks and watch the sunrise. There are so many things to do here with these people. It’s amazing that we were all placed together by chance, and these were all total strangers to me less than a month ago. Then, today, we started talking about the summer…
“Wouldn’t it be great if we all got together this summer in Germany?” Isabella’s eyes widened. “We could go traveling all around Europe, because I have friends all over… Italy, Austria, Spain.”
“Oh my gosh that would be SWEET!” I exclaimed. Kelli agreed.
“I would love to do that! I was thinking about studying abroad next semester, but I also was thinking I could do it in the fall, too. So we could go there for part of the summer and I would just stay on!”
So, as I sat around that breakfast table, planning out the next amazing adventure of my life, I realized how lucky I was to have been placed with these girls. Isabella was just awesome. She was so much fun and such an interesting person to be with. She was welcoming and friendly, and the fact that she would let us come with her and tour her own country and the amazing places around it was the most incredible experience I could ever have hoped to come across. Kelli and Susan were the same… adventurous, happy, and outgoing people. They were just like me, in the sense that we all thought alike. We were all single, we were all willing to try new things and explore the world.
So, tonight I am going to the Grand Canyon (we changed the date)… and next summer, I hope to be in Europe.
Europe. I really hope it comes true.
Wow, that would have to be the coolest thing ever. What an awesome opportunity! I hope it happens… keep planning away! And uh…take me with you? 🙂

Awesome. I have a couple of those friends, who are so much like me and think so much like me, that we get along so well it’s almost as if I’m taking them for granted. It’s wonderful having friends who you know will just always be there for you, no matter what, and won’t fight with you over the small stuff. Hey, have fun at the Grand Canyon!

How odd… I’m actually saving up for a trip to Europe myself. Either during the spring or summer.. a two week adventure over there. Melissa found a great deal on the internet for students. Somethin’ like $800, which includes lodging and food. Doesn’t include airfare though, I believe.. but still, that’d be an awesome experience. 🙂
