Front Yard, Back Yard

I got a kick out of the notes from the other day when I shared the photo of my boys playing in the playroom nook and most of you commented on the view out the window.  I forget sometimes how flat this land is compared to most of the country… we truly are on the prairie!  There was a pretty sky yesterday afternoon so I decided to snap another picture as I stood in the upstairs window to give you a better look:

The highway to town is off in the distance (it’s technically about 3/4 of a mile), yet we are still only about 2 miles from town.   It’s the best of both worlds, even though our town is small.  The nearest Target/shopping mall is about an hour and 10 minutes away, but at least the grocery store and the school are just a few minutes down the road.

Front Yard:

By contrast, the river runs through our backyard, so there are still plenty of trees and woods and trails behind the house.  I took this the
other night when the sky was absolutely incredible!  I’m still patiently waiting for green grass and leaves, however.

I can’t wait for our boys to grow up here and have many adventures exploring and running around this beautiful land… there are so many more good things to come…

Wow! Amazing!! 🙂

the sky is just amazing. it’s so interesting what “sky” looks like when you don’t live 10 minutes from a city. light pollution detracts from nature’s true beauty. Lovely, XO

I can honestly say that I’ve NEVER seen a sky like yours, in either picture. Sigh. City living!

Love it!

Stunning! That sky is ridiculous 🙂

LOVE the night picture! We have the same kind of “best of both worlds” – I love it. I can get to the library/church/grocery store/post office/schools in 5 minutes, but it’s quiet. Our closest malls are 1.25 hours away, too! Though we do have a target 15 mins from here – that was new a few years ago and for a while all anyone could talk about!

Do your skies REALLY look like that at night?? Man, I might need to move!

May 16, 2013

Wow to both! But that last picture with the stars… how do you take a photograph like that? I LOVE it!

May 16, 2013

That last picture truly made my jaw drop. That is an amazing picture. I love that big huge star/cluster in the right of the picture. Wow. Funny, I think Madison is best of both worlds too but we live in the ‘city’ part. But I love that it is not far to get to awesome camping, biking, hiking, rural places, etc 🙂

Simply stunning!

That evening photo is UNREAL. Wow.

gorgeous view!

So gorgeous. I really miss the stars. That is like my biggest sadness about living in a city (which I otherwise completely love). xoxoxoxoxo
