What’s new, pussycat? *Adventures in WL and PT*

It turns out, I’m really bad at… not eating things that I like/want.

Initially I was doing really well counting calories and taking my energy supplements, but then I sorta went all loony tunes and felt deprived of everything, ever, so I had to eat a few boxes of girl scout cookies to feel better. +1 lb. Then I remembered why I was doing all this and calmed myself the hell down, and I’ve been drinking tons of water and taking my supplements and I’ve lost 3 lbs. Phew.

I really think that losing some weight will help with my back problems, my chiropractor is too polite to say so, but he had a substitute, an older gentleman, the other day, and THAT GUY had no problem telling me that if I was in better shape, I would probably stay adjusted longer and take the adjustments a lot easier and not need them as often.

My back is absolutely killing me, all the time. To the point that I can’t sleep well at night, and if I sit still for too long I get really stiff and have a hard time walking. I’m sore and pained and unhappy. I feel old, way too old for someone who is not yet 27. I need to do something. For a lot of reasons. Anyways, so it’s going well, and I need to go buy more SQ drink mix, soon. I went to fetch my stationary bike from "storage" in Heather’s family’s shed, but her dad had hauled it off to the dump ages ago and hadn’t asked or mentioned it. So I’m prowling CL for a new one… Alaska is lame, and it’s going to be Snow for another couple of months.

I’m STILL waiting for my tax refund. I’m going to pay a bunch of rent and then I’m going to buy Milo and Kasin new beds- Kasin is so totally over his race car bed, but what he really wants is a bunk bed, and I told him to wait until we move out of state, because when we move, we won’t want to be taking apart and hauling along a whole huge bunk bed. I’m going to get Milo a cheap plastic toddler bed (ELMO!!!) and get rid of his crib. When we move, we can just get rid of the toddler bed and crib mattress and buy him a twin size. 🙂 For Kasin, I’m just planning to get him a bed FRAME, the kind with wheels on the bottom that get your mattress up off the ground, and skip the head/foot boards for now.

Worst case scenario, in my mind, is having Kasin and Milo share a room and share the bunk beds when we move, but I am going to avoid that like the plague.

ANYWAYS, I have to pay a bunch of rent/bills and buy the kids new beds, and then I’m getting new glasses. I need new glasses SO BADLY. I need indestructable ones.

It’s too early. SIGH!

Moving on- Milo is well on his way to being potty trained. I am a major push over about a lot of things, but this is not one of them. Kasin was potty trained in about a week, and I think Milo will fit into that time line, as well. I’m taking Thursday and Friday off of work and keeping him home in underwear FT those two day, and then through the weekend we’re going to keep it up and take him to daycare on Monday in underwear. So far, he’s been refusing to use the potty at daycare, but is using it FT at home. He will happily sit on the potty at daycare, but he won’t pee in it. He holds it. (For real. You can watch him tense up and clench, and sometimes he’ll grab himself and try to squeeze it shut so he won’t pee. What a brat! lol) and then once they put a diaper back on him, he pees in that. At home, I don’t put diapers on him anymore, except at bed time, so he uses the potty.

I don’t MAKE HIM sit on the potty very often, but if he is clearly trying to hold it, I will set him there and remind him that he needs to go pee pee. Usually he will pee a tiny bit and then get up and do something else, then come back to the potty by himself and finish peeing. He likes to do things on his own terms. lol

So anywho, that’s all going swimmingly, as well 🙂 I’m very pleased with his progress. He’s getting a couple of jelly beans every time he goes potty, because that’s the reward system they have in place at daycare. I don’t really think he needs the rewards anymore, but we’ve got a whole big bag of jelly beans, so we may as well use them up.

Our one potential hang up is that he has yet to poop in the potty. He has been pooping first thing in the morning before I change him into undies/pants for the day, or right after nap when he’s still in a diaper. He doesn’t seem opposed to pooping in the potty, he talks about it and when we flush pee down the potty, he always says "Bye bye, pee! bye bye, poop!" and when he poops in his diapers, we usually empty it into the potty and flush it, and he’s fine with that and says bye bye and we wipe his bum with big kid wipes and flush them, and he’s fine with the whole thing, he just hasn’t timed it properly yet. He hasn’t pooped yet this morning, though, so I am going to tell them to try to catch him at daycare and put him on the potty if they notice him trying to poo. FINGERS CROSSED that pooping on the potty is not an issue. I would hate for him to start holding it.

His last big-kid step is his bink. I’m doing everything one at a time, first we took the crib side off his bed and made it a "big boy bed" and now we’re potty training. I’m saving the binky for last, because neither one of us is ready. We’ve been talking about it a lot, but he cries and says "NO! MY BINK!!" every time. I told him that he’s too big for a bink, now, and that it will give his teeth owwies. He seems concerned by that, but not enough to give it up. I thought about trying to talk him into giving his binkies to a little baby, but I think he would hit the little baby and scream "NO! MY BINK!!!" lol.. so I don’t think we’ll go that route. I’ve been toying with the idea of cutting the tips off of his pacis, but they were expensive and I’m relunctant. When I took Kasin’s away, I just bagged them all up and hid them, and I STILL HAVE THE BAG FULL OF BINKIES I TOOK AWAY FROM HIM WHEN HE WAS EIGHTEEN MONTHS OLD. lol In fact, Milo uses some of Kasin’s!

Honestly, I think that taking his bink away will be less traumatic than I’m expecting. For both of us.

That’s all the news that is news, folks. 🙂 I leave you with this adorable Milo picture:

This is in the nursery (my class) at work, he was visiting me and eating some chips. He thinks he owns the joint. lol

golly hes cute. i have no advice on the binky. fiona gave hers up on her own around 10 months or so. hopefully it goes smoothly! we are going to start potty learning in a month or so, i think. so you can give me advice! 😉

Milo’s hair is so long and cute, I love it. I feel like having a bunk bed as a kid would be the absolute best. Ashley

I am horrible at denying myself food. Honestly, I’d just rather work out more than not eat cookies.
