Sickly. Underwater.

 Man, so I’ve been sick for like, two weeks now. I got sick right ON Xmas, and it hit me really suddenly in the middle of the day, and I ended up taking a huge nap and getting up feeling groggy and congested and awful. I dealt with the whole thing for a week before I caved and went to the low-income clinic and paid $25 for a PA, who was younger than me, to swab my throat and talk condescendingly to me. That was fun. I think she seriously swabbed my tonsils for much longer than necessary because I told her I’m a puker. She also made a point of saying "Whatever, just don’t puke ON ME." ….really? How about if we try not to be such a bitch? No? Ah, well. Then I might puke on you on purpose. 

Anyhow, she basically told me I was fine and that my throat (chief complaint) looked fine except for a few spots on my hugely swollen tonsils. She didn’t look in my ears at all, which have been plugged up and painful for days and days and I can barely hear anything, I feel like I’m underwater and it’s so annoying… she sent me home and said they’d call me the next day with results for my throat culture. I assumed it came back negative for strep since I never heard anything back. THEN THREE DAYS LATER, Im still feeling like complete shit, and the nurse who took my vitals that day called and told me I was positive for strep and that they were sending me a prescription to my preferred pharmacy.  REALLY. Three days later. *Shakes head*

Anyhow, I went and picked up a script for straight up Penicillin, and it doesn’t seem to be helping at all. My throat still hurts like a bitch and I still have to take ibuprofen a few times a day to control the swelling of my tonsils. My sinuses aren’t any better, my ears aren’t any better, my chest is still congested, my throat still burns and stings, I’m exhausted, AND I have bacterial pink eye in BOTH EYES, which won’t clear up, despite having been using drops for over a week. UGGGGHHHH.
