Nothing to do, Nowhere to go…

Milo’s down for a nap. He’ll (probably, hopefully) be out for about two hours.

I have no plans today, or this weekend over all, really.

Milo’s insane. He talks SO MUCH now, and he thinks he can read. He has certain books that he absolutely LOVES and we have to read them over and over- Sandra Boynton books, and Jackie Urbanovic’s "Duck" books –

and

I need to get him the rest of the series, there are several more.

He also loves The Gruffalo and this Step 1 Reader book that Kasin got from his Kindergarten teacher, it’s called "MUD!" and Milo loves it, despite the fact that there is a pig in it. (He watches a lot of Shaun The Sheep, and as a result, he hates pigs.)

The kid is hilarious, and he knows all these books by heart, so he’ll turn to the pages and yell the words he knows. There’s a part in Duck Soup where the duck’s friends think he fell into the soup he was making, and they start pouring it out, looking for him, and every time they find an ingredient, they think it’s a part of his body. So, for instance, a potato falls out and they yell, "AHHHH!!! HIS HEAD!!!" and then pearl onions fall out, "AHHHH!!! EYEBALLS! HIS EYEBALLS!!" and then carrot slices, "HIS FEET! OH NO! ITS HIS FEET!" and Milo screams these to the best of his ability, "AAHHHH!!!!! EYES!!! AHHHH!!! FEET!!!!" so funny. He’s such a silly, cute baby.

There’s also a page where the duck is trying to decide what to add to his soup, and Milo always just remembers the "Broccoli" part, so he asks "Broccoli?" like four times. It’s so cute.

Ross got a tarantula. Her name is Aurelia, and she’s almost cute.. when she stays in her cage… a friend of mine was a preschool teacher at the Montessori school here in town, and it was her class pet. However, she’s relocating, as her family is military, and the teacher who is coming in to take over her room wants NOTHING to do with it. lol SO, she was asking around to see if anybody wanted her, and nobody did. I knew that Ross would be SO EXCITED, so I went ahead and said yes. Ross LOVES HER. He’s holding her right now, actually. She’s sorta timid, she gets scared if you put more than one cricket in her cage, which is kinda sweet. lol

Kasin’s doing awesome in school, as always. He scored literally OFF the charts for his reading and writing assessment at the beginning of the year, and his teacher told me that she doesn’t even know what to give him for selling practice or sight words, he just already knows …every word… he just reads, seriously anything. He just gets it. It’s very strange. He’s only 7, he reads things like "poisonous" and "mechanical" and "laughter" without a moment’s hesitation. He’s good at math and science and history and everything else, too, but he’s scoring in the high end of "on target" for those. I know it’s silly, but I wish he was in the GT/ELP program again this year. I wish everything was equally easy for him and came so naturally. But to be honest, I feel like reading/writing is the most important skill you learn in school, so if that’s what he’s best at, I’m glad.

Anyhow, not a lot going on outside of the day-to-day, kids, work, school, dinner, weekends, kitties. Yanno 🙂
