Milk-be-Gone

So, I’m pretty sure Milo didn’t nurse at all today.. not at all! Not even at bedtime! He’ll be 11 months old in two days.. *shakes head*  I can’t believe he’ll be one soon.

Anyhow, he has been sickly and it seems like liquids make him throw up, primarily if he drinks from a regular (grown up, no lid) cup, which is what he uses MOST of the time, or else a cup with a straw, but it seems like he CHUGS too hard and too much when he uses his straw cups, so we’ve been giving him real cups mostly, but then I think he gulps too much air.. he wont tip a regular sippy cup up, he’ll hold it and try to suck on it, rather than tip it up *shrug*  ANYWAYS, he’s been fine all day for the last THREE DAYS IN A ROW and then he starts puking up everything he drinks after dinner time. Bizarre.

I’m trying to push his bed time back to 8 or 8:30, I think it was nearly 8 when he fell asleep tonight, and nearly 8:30 when he went to bed last night.  He’s still trying to get up at 5:30 am (I dont let him out of his crib till 6, and he usually just lays quietly or talks quietly to himself in bed till Daddy gets up at 6 and gets him 🙂 but I’m hoping he’ll adjust soon and sleep in a bit later.. the tough part is that Ross gets up at 6 to get ready for work and leaves by 7… he usually wakes the baby up, if he isn’t up already. I just am not able to manage him going to bed at 7, or sometimes 6:30, when I don’t get off work till 6 and we don’t walk in the door till 6:30 or get dinner going and eaten till 7, it’s just a mess trying to fit it all into that HALF HOUR or so after we get home, sO! hopefully pushing back bed time.. today was only the second day and it went pretty well, he didn’t even get fussy at 8 when I got him into bed. And he went to sleep with no troubles.

MAN, which reminds me, he was sleeping through the night SO WELL there for a few weeks, then he got a tummy bug here recently and that threw us all off because he wasn’t eating real food during the day, and so he was waking up a lot at night and I was nursing him since I knew he hadn’t been eating well.. well, now he’s been throwing up a lot of fluids in the evening, and so I feel like he needs the extra drinks.. so the last couple of nights he’s gotten up once around 1 or 2 and once around 4 or 5 and I’ve nursed him both times. Maybe I’ll start trying to just give him a sip of water from a straw cup instead and settle him back down without picking him up out of bed, especially since he’s feeling much better, now.

Hopefully that’ll get him back to sleeping all night, cuz boy howdy, that was enjoyable when that happened. lol I also had gotten him to where he would just lie down and go to sleep for bed and naps when I laid him in his crib.. he would just settle in with his blankets and talk to himself for a little bit until he fell asleep, no crying or arguing.. that went out the window when his belly was hurting, and so I’ve had to show him some tough love the last few days to get us back to that status, but I think it’s been successful and he laid down effortlessly bedtime tonight, even though he fussed a bit at afternoon nap time.

I think his schedule has really evened out pretty good for naps during the day, except Im going to have to start stretching his morning "awake" time farther because we’ll be packing up and heading to daycare just after 8:30, which is right around when he usually lays down for his morning nap (it’s super early, I know, but he usually gets up at 5:30 or 6am!!) so HOPEFULLY, pushing back bedtime and sleeping in a bit (cross your fingers for me) will enable him to wait till after 9 for that morning nap and he can do a 9:30 nap once he gets to daycare, instead of an 8-8:30 nap at home.. because he won’t be up in time to leave for daycare if I let him have that super early nap at home, now.

…alright, I ran out of steam. Time for bed. Classes start TOMORROW!

Good the schedule is evening out…

January 19, 2012

sometimes food allergies can make you vomit. Could be something in his sippy or dinner doesn’t agree with his little system. Just a thought. Hope the poor little guy stops doing it soon, whatever the reason.
