I’m Taking Over: Part Two, And Home Improvement.
So, yesterday was my second day on the job at Western Wats. I spoke to my supervisor for a while, and the subject of management came up. Long story short, the general manager is likely to be talking to me on Friday about me becoming a manager. If I am a manager here within a week of my first day, I’m going to shit. Besides that, Thanksgiving has been excellent. Ate lots of ham, turkey, and ambrosia salad. I also put a stone floor on the canopy out back.
Let me tell you about this canopy. It’s ten feet by twenty feet. It’s one of those that’s designed for vehicles to go in, like a garage. I built this thing on my own, which Ron was very surprised and pleased about. I even picked its heavy ass up and carried it into place once it was finished. About a week ago, we had heavy winds here, and Jody shouted that the canopy was out in the street. True enough, it was. It’s kinda like a 250 pound kite, so wind is bad for it. The steel frame had bent a little because it crashed into the ground after being in the air. Jody and I were the only ones home, and thus were the only ones there to fight it back into place. Long story short, after about a half hour and many bloody knuckles, and serious gouges in the ground, the canopy was back in place, this time tied down heavily. A couple of days ago, I even pounded some stakes into the ground so Ron could tie it down more securely with these big thick nylon tiedowns. It’s a well-loved canopy.
So, I created a floor for it today, so we wouldn’t be tracking dirt in when we had to go in and mess with storage stuff.
I’m actually just about to go and rip some flagstone out of the ground so I can dig a trench and put some interlock in as a path out the front door of the house. It’s fun being out here with no HOA’s and doing whatever we want.
