One Day Dedication*—Vice And Virtue–*
I don’t know what day I am going to go see Frank, however, according to him (and without protest from myself) we are going to dedicate the whole day to making love! We’ll even keep food by the bed so we wont even have to get out of it to eat, haha. I told him if he promised me that day, we would have it! So he promised. Its when he says stuff like that, that I know he misses me. ( I know, I know, awwww…thats so cute!! mush mush.) But lemme tell ya, you can’t fit 5 months into one day, haha. So, I told him we might need to utilize the second day as well. *evil grin* He created the monster, he must live with it! Anyway, just wanted to get it out there that he and I need to see eachother bad, haha. Our inuendos are getting too hard to handle! Cold showers just don’t seem to cut it these days! lol…I don’t take cold showers…brrr
Well Easter was nice at my Grandmothers. Then mom and I went home and spent a fortune at Taco Bell, (I know what about the diet Hanna??? …Screw it, its Easter, so lets EAT!) and rented three movies and had a fat night on the couch. Those are the best nights! However now we’re both broke and will probably be living on oat meal and hot dogs, but at least we’ll have had a nice Easter, lol.
Tomorrow I get the joy of meeting my (probably a drunk) advisor so I can pick out my fall classes before everything is taken up. I’d like to get my schedual made tomorrow! So after my morning class in town I’ll have to shoot up here so I have time to meet with her for a bit. She seems like a smart lady, but preoccupied, and sometimes I think she’s..umm…inebriated, is that how she spells it? She seems kind of slow to catch on, lol. Anyway, that should be fun, she’s the reason I took like 4 classes I didn’t even need. If she does that to me again I think I may request another advisor, I’m paying for these classes ya know? It already feels like I will never be done with school, I am so burnt out! Im not going to give up, I just wish I was almost done!
Well, I really just wrote in here to take a break from homework. Im looking forward to the Dedication Day! As soon as a day of departure is set, I am so putting a count down on here, haha, coz I want EVERYONE sharing in my joy. And believe me, it WILL be joyous!
Okay, so here is a homework assingment for my Vice & Virtue class, and I found the question to be pretty interesting, I hope a did a good job of answering it!! Anyway, I thought maybe it might spark a discussion:
[Question}
In your opinon, is something morally right because God commands it, or does God command it because it is morally right? What is the difference? (The question seems to assume that you have a religion, but it is entirely possible to approach the question theoretically; If there is a God, then does something become morally right because he or she commands it, or does he or she command it because it is morally right?)
[MY ANSWER]
In my opinion, which is not religiously biased because I am not dedicated to any one particular religion, I think God decides what is morally right and morally wrong. In all religions, the highest form of power is God. He/or she is above any other power in the universe, so therefore it would hold true that because they are the ultimate in decision-making, they decide what is morally right or wrong. It would be logical to conclude that something cannot be right or wrong without someone there to decide that such an act or idea is wrong or right. For example, if a tree falls in the woods and no one is around to hear it, does it still make a sound? Of course not, sound is only a result of wavelengths traveling and vibrating some bones in a humans/ or creatures ears, which ultimately ends up a sound.
Therefore, a person is able to conclude that the sound exists because they themselves heard it. There for I believe even God would have to be faced with a situation to conclude that it is ultimately morally right or morally wrong, otherwise the situation would just “be” without any end conclusion of moral right or wrong. So to say that something is morally right because he or she commands it, is the same as saying he or she commands it because it is morally right. In either scenario, God is the ultimate decider of which is morally right or wrong. If a man commits a lude act such as murder, is the murder wrong if no one (God) is around to decide such a thing? The act is only wrong because some one (God) has says so. He decides that it is wrong because he is the superior power whether it was wrong before he concluded such. Therefore, God decides something is morally right because he says its morally right, if it was morally right before his decision, then something else has decided (which would conclude that that something is higher than God him/herself) that something is morally right. But according to belief in God, there is no higher power, or reasoning, therefore he decides what is morally right.
i envy you… day long love making! *sigh* – noah

sounds good to me. i would agree with that answer. one thing that always made me think was the fact that, if god does not exist, that means morals are actually of humans saying they are god, and humans err, thus, morals end up being a load *beep*. lol just a thought. – noah
