Money Runner

So I have had a pretty relaxing three days off!!! I made a point of it to keep up with my walking…and today I got a bug up my butt and decided to try jogging for the first time. I was getting to the point where I was walking faster and faster because I have built up such a tolerance for it. I have been contemplating jogging for a couple of weeks now, but I have never been much of a runner so it was a bit intimidating. Today I threw caution to the wind and gave it a go. I decided to try and jog for three minutes and walk for five, just to get myself used to it. I averaged about 4 1/2 miles today and by the end of it thought I was going to DIE. It felt good too though. I know tomorrow when I wake up I will probably be sore in places I forgot I had but I don’t care. I will know the reason why and it will have been definitely worth it. Go me. =)

I have also kind of taken on a part time job. My AGM asked me a few weeks ago if I would want to do some website work for him but then our schedules got crazy and we hadn’t seen much of each other to be able to talk about it. Last night around 9:00 he shot me a text and asked me if I was busy and could he stop by to talk about it. (Yes the one B was having an "affair" with.) He came over and I offered him a glass of his homemade wine and since I don’t have a couch (aside from the blow up airmattress I am using, ha ha) we laid down on the floor with our respective laptops so he could show me what he was needing me to do. (Such a professional setting eh?)

Turns out he has a restaurant supply business online and he has items listed that needed dimensions and descriptions. 1800 of them. It isn’t really challenging work but I have done this before for Frank on his website jobs (who paid me quite well actually. But he had to keep his mistress fed right? ugh, jerk.)  But I digress. He asked me if I would  prefered to be paid by the hour or by the product. I told him the fairest thing would be to pay me by the product, since I would be doing all of the work from home. I felt like if I got paid by the hour he wouldn’t be able to honestly gauge how much work I did in an hour (unless he set a limit to products per hour)…so we settled on $3.00 a product and by the end of the job I will have 5K in my pocket I wasn’t planning on having. However so far if I got paid by the hour I would be averaging about $18.00.   That’s almost double what I make at the hotel. Perhaps I am in the wrong profession haha. It’s tedious and boring work but I need (AND want) the money, so I’ll suck it up and do the job. I am hoping to have quite a few products finished by Tuesday so he can cut me my first check and I’ll have extra money for my vacation that comes up by the end of next week.

I am pretty excited about the trip actually. I am leaving after work on the 2nd and will be embarking on a 12 hour journey to northern Michigan. Equipped with Redbull, beef-jerkey, and gobs of music to keep me flying. I love all the thinking and perspective you can do while driving. You’re left to your thoughts on the road….it’s almost hypnotizing and theraputic. Too bad it’s all interstate driving or the windows would be down too.

   9 days and counting.

It will be nice to have that extra money. I remember the long drive during school breaks back and forth to college. It wasn’t as enjoyable for over 4 hours of drive time. Good thing I didn’t pick a college that was 8 hours away.

Sounds like it is going to be a fun trip! 🙂

RYN: That table was a pain to move. My whole body is still in pain from moving and assembling it. On the plus side, it will probably last a long long time.
