So Let’s Face It, This Was Never What You Wanted
It’s probably immoral of me, but the second thing I read in the paper after the comics is the Obituaries. Okay, maybe not immoral, but inconsiderate or something. It’s not that I’m looking to see if I know someone who has died, it’s that curiousity killed the cat and got the best of me in the cat’s stead.
Either way, I always look to see who the eldest person to die was. I know older people (like my grandma) check the Obits to see if they know anyone who has died, which is normal, but I don’t think a 20 year old doing it is so normal. I could be wrong.
Anywhore, yesterday night was my second City and Colour (Dallas Green of Alexisonfire) concert, and it was fabulous, of course! Last March (the 24th, to be exact), I went to see C&C at the Myer Horowitz at the U of A with Mike. It was good, we had good seats, but I kept getting poked by this guy sitting next to me, so I was kind of distracted by not banging the shit out of my arm on the armrest. We were on the floor, in one of the last rows, right near the end of the row, which was nice, but could have been better.
Flash to last night? Last night, I saw Dallas from row E of the Dress Circle at the Winspear, with my mother. And it was incredible. The sound was exquisite and crisp and lovely. Some interesting dude named Casey Baker opened for him, which was good, at least until he said the word "fuck" a few times and I realized that my MOTHER was sitting next to me, and she hates that word. So it was good, up until that, while Casey was on. But mom liked Dallas, which was good, and after it was over, she told me she remembered about 5 songs.
Which is good, because I swear I’ve played the CD at least 10 times while I was making dinner in the past 6 months.
Anyway, he played the usuals, which was fabulous and he played some other stuff, including ‘Hello’ by Lionel Richie, or at least part of it. My mom and I are, of course, sitting there laughing our asses off at it.
There were some guys next to me who I talked to during the intermission, and some girls on my mom’s side who were talking and babbling the entire time Casey was playing. Either way, Casey was pretty good and Dallas kicked ass, and after it all was over, I felt mellow and light and peaceful.
Today I finished a book I’ve read four times and cried over the ending, yet again. Tomorrow I get to take more blood and work with my mom for two hours, which could be awkward, but will certainly be interesting.
For now, though, it’s off to bed. Night.
– day old hate – city and colour –
why do YOU always get to see City and Colour, and I never do? Next time you see them, you better Dallas to drag his sorry ass over here, or I’m gonna be MIGHTY PISSED! long time no chat hope you’re doing well.
