Write Here, Write Now!

I can’t believe one year ago I was in the grip of depression, on the cusp of a divorce, and seemingly stuck in a horrible school job with no hope of salvation. Now my band did well at contest last week, I adore my new school, and J and I will be trying for our first baby this summer.   Who would have thought it possible? Bastardized Standardized testing is next week. Yes, that is all public education if focused on these days, the “All Holy Test of Perpetual Impending Doom.” Now, I am all for students having to meet a standard, but the state pushing the testing down into primary grades, where recess is becoming a distant memory is going too far. My future children will attend Catholic school until high school, at which point they will attend my school, which is like a private school, only with public funding. Newsweek magazine named us one of the top 100 high schools in the country. Woot!

I’m perplexed at the latest round of cold weather. Where is Global Warming when you need it?   Easter weekend was so cold, I wanted to build a coal plant in my back yard and mentally fan the fumes up into the ozone layer!

It is a little known fact that on the eighth day God created the orgasm. And God rested, which is why we men tend to fall asleep after sex – we were created in God’s image!

Oh, NCLB… I am not sure how I feel about it. In the college of ed, we were indoctrinated to hate it because it does not express “multiple intelligences” or whatever… now I think it holds teachers and schools more accountable for teaching core knowledge and basic skills like reading. Congrats on the band contest! it’s cold here, too. Wet and snowy…
