Thoughts on the Star Spangled Banner

THE STAR SPANGLED BANNER, FROM THE PERCUSSIONIST’S PERSPECTIVE:

Oh, say can you BOOM, CRASH
By the dawn’s early BOOM, CRASH
What so proudly we BOOM, CRASH
At the twilight’s last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright BOOM, CRASH
Through the perilous BOOM, CRASH
O’er the ramparts we BOOM, CRASH
Were so gallantly streaming? 3 &

BOOM BOOM BOOM
BOOM BOOM BOOM
BOOM BOOM BOOM
BOOM BOOOOOMMMM; BOOM
BOOM BOOM BOOM
BOOM BOOOOOMMMM; BOOM
BOOM BOOM BOOM
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

I have to tell you: I saw your entry on the title page and clicked in out of curiosity. …..and almost fell out of my chair laughing. In high school lo these may moons ago, I was literally the ONLY percussionist who could count the cymbal crashes correctly. I still, to this day, cringe when I hear those crashes in the wrong place. This is brilliant, and up there in my list of top-ten-favorite-entries-ever. The only thing that’s missing is the introductive “rolling….rolling…..rolling….dear god still rolling….isn’t he ever really going to start….rolling” heeee!

Wow, from someone who can’t even clap to the beat!! I find bands completely amazing.

I’ve heard it played that way.

hahaha i love this version of the star spangled banner!! and yes i hate these kinds of fundamentalists, really it is the dumb people who need to make lots of noise and be noticed, smart people know they r smart and don’t need others approval..obviously this way of preaching doesnt attract followers, just riots, like we say in yiddish an empty charity box will make lots of noise when u shake it, but a box that is full makes no noise at all…
