Palm Sunday turned into Sweaty Palms Sunday as I drove into the San Antonio highway system, which being constantly under construction, resembles a concrete Stonehenge, complete with orange vested worker druids. I was nervous, not because of the road construction, but due to my Monday afternoon interview for the band director job at a local magnet school. I checked into my hotel room and then drove to the school to familiarize myself with the route. The evening and following morning passed without incident, and I arrived at the school 45 minutes early. Ten minutes into what was supposed to be my time slot, I heard a familiar voice drifting from the depths of the principal’s office – a local colleague was on of my competitors <insert suspense music here>! Upon seeing each other, we laughed and made a bit of awkward conversation. The principal then emerged and escorted me back to the conference room, where I was interviewed by the principal, orchestra and choir directors. I feel the session went well, but the decision won’t be made for several weeks – things move slowly in the education field.
Last night I sat in at a jazz gig at a local high class lounge. The players were impressed with my playing and many business cards were exchanged. I hope this will lead to gigs in my future.

Ooh that kinda sucks that someone you know is competing for the same job. Nice highway stonehenge description.

Obviously because I know you and think you are great, you are the best candidate for the job. lol I wish you the best and have often thought about talking to you about recipes for people like me. A cook book for people like me who can’t eat much but who like good food. Hugs r
