Last week I interviewed for a sweet job in San Antonio; a health careers magnet high school. The only electives offered to students at this school are band, choir, and orchestra, NO FUCKING SPORTS! I like sports, but not most coaches. A bonus to this job is that I won’t have to deal with them ever again, muahahahahahaha! Students must apply to this school for admission and many are turned away, which means I will be dealing with superior kids and no riff raff. The only down side is I will have no control over instrumentation. Since the students come from three counties, there is no feeder program. Currently out of seventy something kids, there are eight oboes and bassoons. However, I will gladly trade instrumentation issues for good attitudes and work habits. I was named a finalist, which means I must come back in April or May and actually direct the band on whatever daily lesson was planned for the date of the interview. After the principal and fine arts supervisor watch me interact with the students, then we will adjourn for my interview with the principal. Having me actually rehearse the ensemble plays into my strengths, since I guest conduct quite often and have no problem working with kids who are not “mine.”

J has decided to join my gym and work out to regain her formerly exquisite body. I don’t know what brought on the sudden interest, but based on her overall behavior of late, I think she’s trying to rekindle the passionate fire we once had – works for me!

Have I mentioned I hate my job?   Just checking. There are two jobs open in Corpus Christi, which I’ve also applied for, but interviews haven’t been scheduled yet for those positions. Meanwhile I must prepare for concert and sight reading contest and plan for the upcoming Florida trip.

I had a parent teacher conference the other day and i had two pages of tasks for the student that he did not do and he was failing and the basketball coach/history teacher had 4. FOUR!!!! How can you grade a studen’ts performance on FOUR assignments in Government/ Economics? Is the photo of you? WowZER. Lucky J. r
