The Safe At Home Affair, Act II

Gordon Warner, Enforcement Agent, Section 2, Number 37, United Network Command for Law and Enforcement (UNCLE), joined the river of people flowing through passport control and customs. He had no idea who his contact would be, but it was essential that he meet up with him and get to the safe house as soon as possible. He emerged into bright sunlight and stood blinking for a moment. All around him people were calling out to one another and waving signs.

Suddenly, he felt a pair of slim hands wrap around his waist. Gordon heard a breathless whisper in his ear, “Do you know the way to the Hoober-Bloob Highway?”

He spun in her embrace, “We’ll have to take my three handled family gradunza.”

“Kiss me,” she said, “We’re supposed to be lovers.” He kissed her.

“You smell like a Russian.”

“These things happen,” Elaine said lightly and grabbed his hand to lead him out of the crowd. “Your coach awaits.”

After practically circumnavigating the entire airport, running a complex surveillance detection route, they arrived at their transportation.

“This is a bus,” Gordon observed dryly.

“I said your coach awaits. What did you expect?”

They tossed their baggage into the open cargo area and climbed into the bus to get better acquainted.

You write short stories! Interesting, I liked the details and your whimsy was visible in a couple of places too. Tom-
