Oh, Its Nice to be Home

Oh, Its Nice to be Home

Tuesday was long. Not only did Granny have the MRI, but several x-rays too. Baylor is crazy. We had to check in in the Jonsson Building and then off to the Roberts Tower for the MRI. Then after that took three hours we went to yet another building to have the x-rays run. She was just plain worn out after all of that. We get the results of everything on Monday, so y’all keep those fingers crossed.

She was starving after we left, so we went to Rock Fish. Oh, god that is the best place to eat. I had the Fry Me to the Moon. It is too awesome. The is fried catfish, fried shrimp, fried scallops, hush puppies, French fries, and fried onion strings all on one huge platter. Only a southern restaurant could make seafood so unhealthy and delicious at the same time. YUMMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After all that, she took me home to pack. Do you know how much crap you have to pack for a two month old? It is quite awe-inspiring. Joseph and I had one bag between the two of us, after all, it was only for one night, but there were tree bags, the playpen, and a Rubbermaid box full of bottles in the trunk of my car. Oh, and her walker and her tummy gym. She had four times as much shit as Joseph and I put together.

We were supposed to get on the road at seven, but Diane, the dumb ass piddled around and we didn’t get on the road until 9:30. Stupid ass. It took us four hours to get down there with only two stops. We had to pull over at a rest stop because Brandi got a little fussy when it was time to eat. After an 8 oz of cereal, she slept pretty well the rest of the way.

We got there and I was in love with the place. Joseph’s grandfather, Don, has his own pier on Lake Livingston. It was beautiful. Vicki, Don’s wife (his 5th), took Brandi straight form me and almost never let her go. Her grandchildren live in Michigan, so she sees them very seldom and she was dying to have a baby in her arms again. She loves Brandi so much, even though she’s not hers, but it doesn’t matter. I’m happy that she has plenty of love to give to my daughter.

While we were there, their electric company was putting a new pole outside of their house so the electricity had to be cut off for a while. It started to get hot. Extremely hot. Vicki was burning up and Brandi was pouring sweat so she took Brandi out to the truck and sat with her in there until the power came back on. Vicki had tore the workers a new one for not giving them any notice or checking to see if any children were in the area. When the power came back on one of the worker went to the truck just to let her know so the baby could go back in the house. I laughed my ass off afterwards, but I had been almost to tears worrying about her getting to hot. Vicki was just going to take her to Wal-Mart and buy stuff for her, but she fell asleep in her arm in the truck, that’s why they just sat there.

Joseph and I swam in the lake for a long time; then Michael, Joseph’s brother who just got out of the Marines, came in and started playing with Joseph. Asshole. I was busy seducing Joseph just to be interrupted. Vicki informed me that she and Don go skinny-dipping out there all the time. No, I’m not kidding. They are both two dirty minded old people. The first time I met Don, he patted me on the ass and said “Hi. I’m Don and I’m a pervert.” It’s the honest truth.

We ate and hung out all night. Everyone finally went to bed around midnight. Brandi went to bed at seven and woke up at six the next morning. She slept in the room with Vicki and Don all night. I asked her if she was sure it was okay, and she wasn’t going to let me take her out of her room. Crazy woman. She said it was perfectly okay if I left Brandi there with her when we went home. I’m telling you the woman is a lunatic.

Thursday morning Don and Michael went and bought doughnuts for everyone. They were so fresh that there were still warm. Yummy!!! Joseph and I went for another swim and were left alone this time *wink, wink. I had never swum in a lake before and the fish nipping at my legs were a little strange. It was still incredibly relaxing. Debbie and all the other assholes were ready to get on the road, but Joseph and I stayed a while longer. Vicki was in love with Brandi and we were having too much fun to leave.

We finally had to get on the road at three though. It was a four-hour drive and I’m not too much on driving that kind of distance at night. Brandi cried the whole way home. We even pulled off at a rest stop to walk her around a bit and try to calm her down. It worked for a little while, but Joseph ended up in the back seat with her. She laughed at him for a while.

We got back to the house around seven last night. Brandi crashed. She slept until eight this morning without making a sound. Thirteen hours of sleep and she was starving. She ate four ounces of cereal and four ounces of formula. Then she went back to sleep. She woke up again at ten and ate six ounces more of cereal. She played with Joseph for about an hour, then she went to sleep. At three, she got up and ate four more ounces of formula. Its almost six now and she has been up every since. I guess she has finally recuperated from the trip.

I have to tell y’all, I’m in love with Vicki. I finally found someone who hates Diane (the worthless aunt) as much as I do. She fascinates me. She is a teacher in Houston. She teaches at one of those last resort schools. You know where they send all the losers. She has a couple of black students in her class that told her she was prejudice towards them. She told them I’m not prejudice at you because you are black. I’m prejudice against you because you are stupid. I love people who tell the truth. Its great to have someone who doesn’t hide their feelings. I love her.

Okay, well I’m going to go for now. Brandi”s gums are really bothering her so she’s going to town on my finger. Talk at y’all later.
