Summer Songs
shaking hands remember
and the cool air wraps around me
as i delve into a word so unlike the real one
that i forget that my world is a storybook
pages and pages fluttering in the breeze
and as i whisper, my lips are dry and warm
And i remember your fingertips trailing over my skin
your warm, lazy smile, finally satisfied
and i’m left here wondering what
will happen when the world fades away
and i cannot hold on to you anymore
just cold, bare branches
your warmth used sparingly
and floating away
unnoticed by anyone but me because
it touches me like nothing else ever could
And your words against my hair as we breathe in
summer storms and i’m laying against your chest
and we’re floating away because i cannot remember
a time when i felt as good as this
and you’ll never leave me no matter what
never was there a evening as comfortable
As your arms around me and i’m falling and fading
and all i’ll ever see is that warm, lazy smile burned into my memory.
