Bare Glimpse

iris
a murky forest floor, two
sidesteps and half smiles
a gloomy curl
agility and openess
like a breeze through a screen
you are felt, never seen
i lift my eyes,
i shiver.
inside, a burst
of warmth shoots down
my spine,
and i know you’re here.
i am your weakness,
i am a cask of wine.
your slice of the world, altered,
absorbing my sweetness,
for the barest moment.
breathless, exposed
rain slicing blades of grass
the hum of a motor in the dark.
like a warm sweatshirt,
tattered
we are.
forget
a lone drop of saline
on your thumb.
lips press against
red hot ridges
and i am tormented by
the contrast.

until the next time the sun rises just so,
amanda
