Prayers for Miko Please?

I am exhausted…up all night with my oldest dog, Miko. We took him to the vet yesterday and sure enough, my worst suspicions were confirmed.  He’s been diagnosed with congestive heart failure and not what they originally thought which was a degeneration of the larynx.  His chest x-rays show a HUGE heart and there is water on his lungs.  I pushed and pushed because I know from working with these little monkeys all this time it’s common in the breed.  Also know the constant honking cough he’s been doing, combined with what I could hear which is fluid in his chest and the fact that this increases at night and first thing in the morning?  I knew. 

He was started on a course of antibiotics, given IV fluids and put on Lasix.  We go Monday for an echocardiogram to see how the heart valves are working.  Hopefully this is the beginning stages and we caught it early enough that he will respond well to medications.  He doesn’t want to eat much, not even when I mix his food with baby food which has always worked in the past.  He is doing really well taking his medication which I put inside Gerber meat sticks.  $750.00 for 2 vet visits.  OUCH!  I’ve been seriously contemplating getting a second job so I can start saving for my eventual move, having to get a new car…etcetera.  Now I am going to have to get a third job just to pay his vet bills.  

Tomorrow I go and take my youngest dog, Kismet to Emily who adopted Coco from me.  She’s going to do a trial run with Kismet.  Hopefully he responds to her and I don’t have to worry about rehoming anymore of my animals.

Just when I get my feet under me?  There goes the rug.  It never rains but pours for me.  Bah!!!!
