Green Monster Is No More & New Addition
Well, the green monster is done. Here is proof.
Crown molding still needs to go up…I did move the bed in, put up some blinds and curtains and changed out the fan/light fixture. Will take pictures and post when it’s totally complete. But for now. Progress.
New Additions
The loss of Evie made me realize how old Gizmo is getting. He’s showing signs of CHF too and I don’t believe in having a single dog. Since I work all day I don’t feel it’s fair to leave a dog used to having other dogs home alone. (Side note: in the past year and a half I have lost 4 dogs: Miko, Kismet (former long term foster), Evie and now Coco (another long term foster) has passed on.)
Any way, I decided after waiting a while that it was time to look for a new dog because Gizmo is getting up there, showing signs of CHF and Daisy is young yet. I decided it would have to be another chihuahua, since chihuahuas are like Japanese Chins in that they only like their own kind. I also decided a chihuahua was a good fit because Daisy is really small (5 lbs.) and I didn’t want to bring in another large dog with the potential to hurt her or Gizmo. I wanted to bring in a new dog now so Daisy could bond to it way before the inevitable time comes and I lose my Gizmo. (Gah, even typing that makes my heart ache…all of them were a great loss to me but Gizmo is going to literally tear my heart out when the time comes…). MOVING ON.
I went to the shelters, but all of the chihuahuas there were previous street dogs in Puerto Rico and all much larger. I decided it wouldn’t be fair to me or the new dog to take on that since I wasn’t home all day and couldn’t provide the training a dog like that would need. I will NOT buy from a pet store or even a breeder a puppy since I just don’t believe in that. So I waited, there was no immediate rush. I perused Craig’s List and saw a couple ads for people looking to rehomd chihuahuas, I answered but either I got no response or it was a scam or sale.
Finally there was an ad posted and I got a response. Long story short, I adopted Dixie from the Merrimack Animal Shelter. Here she is the day I brought her home. October 08, 2011.
Daisy is standing on top of the deck, Gizmo is below and Dixie is wearing the pink and white sweater.
And there she is. She’s a complete and utter menace though. LOL! Chews e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g. Including my glasses which cost me $350.00 to replace. Came home Friday to her chewing the remote control and battery! Almost had a heart attack. But she’s a great new addition to my life.
I do not have leukemia, btw. We still do not know what’s wrong with me. I was supposed to see a gastroenterologist on Halloween day but he got sick and cancelled. I am waiting to be rescheduled with him. Meanwhile I still feel like utter ass, but, hey, it’s not leukemia.
I am in therapy again…
Things will Chris are….they are and I am sick of waiting for promises to be fulfilled that haven’t been. My therapist said I need to dish out the last ultimatim and make it for January 1st.
So there you have it.
xoxo That is all.
