American Idol: The Way I Heard It.

Matt — Let’s Get It On — I like this song, and I like him, but I don’t think he handled the riffs that well.  I like what he was doing, but I think he needed a bit more strength in his vocals.  I do like him though.
 
Kris — How Sweet It Is — It was nice, and he can sing, but I kind of didn’t care.  I think he has better control of his voice than Matt.  Actually I’m liking him better but it doesn’t really show us that he can be contemporary.  I just hate these theme nights.  Unless it’s a BeeGees night — more BeeGees nights — how about BeeGees American Idol? 
 
Scott — You Can’t Hurry Love — Where does this guy fit in?  He’s just bland to me.
 
Megan — For Once in My Life — Hmm, I don’t know about this, but for some reason, I just like her.  I don’t know why.  I don’t know why she sings in the lower registers so much because her higher register is often nicer — oops, or not.  Tonight she sounds like she’s losing her voice.  I could see this girl hosting a variety show — doing a song here and there and then introducing another act.  Kara was right — My Guy would have been a better choice for her.
 
Anoop — Ooh Baby Baby — Great song choice.  Nice rendition.  I’m not so crazy about the tone of his falsetto but it was pretty darn good.
 
Michael — Ain’t Too Proud to Beg — I had no interest in this performance. He’s really losing me.

 
Lil — Heatwave — This is kind of a throwaway song and not her best performance.  She should have gone slow, she sounds like she’s out of breath.  The wig was very much of that era but what’s with the flapper dress? 
 
Adam — Tracks of My Tears — A beautiful song choice.  And a lovely interpretation.  Good for him.  His voice sounded lovely.  What a wonderful surprise.  Very nice standing O from Smoky.  Kara, that was THE performance of the night.  Yeah, Simon! 
 
Danny — Get Ready — That was certainly energetic.  I didn’t hate it, but wasn’t loving it either.  After Adam, that was a throwaway.
 
Allison — Papa Was a Rolling Stone — Good for that little girl.  She has quite a voice. 
 
What the hell’s wrong with Paula’s mouth?
