American Idol: As I Heard It! (Disco Night!)

Bah!!  Freaking Adam was brought back.  SUCK IT!!!  When you’re gone, you should be gone!

Moving along:

Lil — I’m Every Woman — Oh Lil, poor Lil.  She should have been able to rock disco night, but alas she didn’t.  Why didn’t she just sing it straight?  She didn’t have great vocal control.  I have such hope for her at the start of every show and she disappoints every time.  She needed to do Donna Summer, not Chaka Khan.  Why oh why oh why?!?!?!!!
 
I hope someone breaks out The BeeGees.  I need to hear some BeeGees.
 
Kris — She Works Hard for the Money — First, Lil should have sung this.  Ok, Kris’ take on the song is interesting.  He did put his own spin on it.  Good for him.  He’s a quiet guy who just keeps plugging away.  I don’t know that he’s blown everyone away but he’s steady and solid.  I like him.
 
Danny — September — He sang it well, meh.   He’s sadly, starting to remind me of a not so interesting Michael McDonald.  I won’t give him a thumbs down but it wasn’t my thing, dawg.
 
Allison — Hot Stuff — She did a good job.  Her voice sells itself.  She’s fast replacing Danny for my pick for winner.  Although I cannot stand her face…I know, not nice but there ya go.
 
I’m not hearing any BeeGees . . . .   ;(
 
Adam — If I Can’t Have You — He’s liking that sophisticated hair, isn’t he — he certainly looks better that way.  Well, that’s a totally different take on that song and he has the voice to handle it.  He used the same vocal pyrotechnics he threw at us last week, but to much better use.  More controlled.  A real performance.  I kind of would have liked him to step into a fast paced second half, but that was fine.  The only part I didn’t like was the kind of odd rhythm to the chorus. 
 
Matt — Staying Alive — Oy, possibly my least favorite BeeGees song.  ;(  I can’t fault his performance but it left me unmoved.  Oh, well I sure didn’t like the end of it.  Too frantic.
 
Anoop — Dim All the Lights — I hated what he did with this song!!! I don’t think his performance was very interesting.
 
Who should go home?  Bye bye, Lil and Matt.  Anoop wasn’t so hot either, and Danny’s heading toward that exit in a week or so too if he doesn’t step it up and get back to the man we saw pre-show.
