American Idol: As I Heard It!

It’s easier to talk about this, than it is what’s going on in my life.

I wonder why they’re doing an MJ night, given his shady background and the fact that his music is rather passe now.

Lil – The Way You Make Me Feel — Never liked this song, but she sang it very well. The girl can definitely sing. I’d like to hear her sing something other than this though.

Scott — Keep the Faith — Don’t know the song. He did fine. I personally didn’t care for it — found it kind of boring.

Danny — PYT — Don’t like this song either, but he can sing. He was having a great time out there.

Michael — You Are Not Alone — Ok, enough of my comments on the songs — if anyone sings one I like, I’ll send up a flare. Ok, well sung but I didn’t really care — it didn’t move me.

Jasmine — I’ll Be There — Ok, I kind of like this song. I sure liked Jasmine a lot more during the auditions, but I think she did a decent job except for a few wobbles here and there. Maybe added a few more trills than necessary.

Kris — Remember the Time — Didn’t like it much at all.

Allison — Give In to Me ??? — Interesting performance. My favorite of the night so far.

Anoop — Beat It — Seemed a bit frenetic. Poor Anoop.

Jorge — Never Can Say Goodbye — It sounded like he was offkey in the beginning. After AI, he’s going to be a start in Puerto Rico. It was kind of cruise-ship to me.

Megan — Rock’n Robin — I don’t think of that as an MJ song but ok. I was wondering what she’d sing. I don’t think she was really feeling it. She’s a fun girl but what’s with the caws at the end.

Adam — Black & White — Although he’s still very musical theater to me, he’s the only one who’s really gotten into the song. I wish he didn’t always remind me of Mig though. Oh no, Paula’s making him cry . . .

Matt — Human Nature — I’d have liked to hear his voice a little louder over the music. I like this guy.

Alexis — Dirty Diana — The girl can definitely sing.

Ok, I’ve seen enough of the sad stories, the kids, the families — I don’t need to stinkin’ back story. Enough!!! I’m sick of 2 hour shows already. Ditch the fluff and just give me singing, damn it.

Ok, who should go home? It might be Anoop. Or Kris.

So what did you all think?

I think they did MJ Night because: A) He sold them the song rights; and B) He’s embarking on a European Tour and needs the publicity. It’s difficult to do his music without listeners hearing him in their heads, which might be another reason they picked that for last night – to see if the contestants could make the songs “theirs”. I’m all about Lil and Alexis because they are ‘hometown’ girlsfor me. And Danny just because I think he’s great!!

Adam looks like a male fem version of my hair dresser, who is a female. I thought he did GREAT. Paula needs to lay off the opiates. I know they make you feel good and lovey, but gah.

I say Anoop. I think his performance was the worst. I and I agree those 2 hour shows are getting old fast. I do wonder what the surprise is the judges are supposed to reveal tonight. Im wondering if they have a say as to who stays or goes.
