Opinions please.

♥ STILL haven’t heard anything from Vanessa about the job. I’m extremely frustrated and I’m wanting to send her another email, but I don’t want to sound like I’m frustrated because that wouldn’t be helpful. I was hoping I could get some opinions on this letter and whether or not I should send it or wait longer.

Hello Vanessa,

I was so excited by our conversations about Davern, I wanted to get a sense of where things stand currently. In your last email, you mentioned that you had yet to make a decision and I am very interested to find out if there is any progress. By the lack of communication I can sense that either no decision has been made, or the results are not in my favour. I would like to express my interest once again in returning to Davern and if the Assistant Director position isn’t something you see as a good fit for me, I hope that you’ll consider me for another position.

I hope to hear from you soon. Thank you again for the interview.

Also, I don’t know if I should add in something about my loyalty to the staff team- being that It’s been 10 years since I started and this would be my 7th year on staff.

The letter is good and I lke thatyou put n that you would like to be considered for other positions if the one you want isn’t forthcoming. Yes, put something in about all the years you’ve worked at Davern. The word loyalty seems a bit manipulative, so I wouldn’t use that. It could easily be misconstrued as a sense of entitlement.

She knows you’ve been there that long I assume? You could add in “I was excited by our conversations about Davern, I have had 7 excellent summers working with the staff and I am looking forward to more. And I agree with Merri-add in that you are interested in other positions if the Assistant director position is not going to be the best fit. And add in to contact you regardless of the result.

I would send it. I would take out this line: “By the lack of communication I can sense that either no decision has been made, or the results are not in my favour.” It sounds…too negative or maybe a little snippy (but maybe that is warranted?). I agree with what Merri and skeletor76 said, too.
