Olympic talk…

Dear Diary;

So… As you read this, keep in mind that I have NO idea what judges marks are based on.

Canada received it’s first Gold medal yesterday. Alexandre Bilodeau won the mens moguls and as I sat and watched them all go- I was confused when Alex ended up in first place. There were 2 other Canadians who went before him -Vincent Marquis and Pierre Alexandre Rousseau-  who in my opinion were better than the top 3 and should’ve won the Gold and Silver respectively, but they ended up in 4th and 5th place. I was totally confused! I mean, YAY ALEX and YAY GOLD, but from the angle we were watching you could clearly see Alexandre slip a little before and after the first jump, and the other two medalists weren’t spectacular.

In figure skating, I was confused too. There was a couple who skated (I forget who) and the girl fell- but when the marks came up, there were no deductions. How does that work??

Sigh.

Anyway, I’ve been glued to the t.v for the most part because I adore the Olympics and the fact that they are in Canada is a bonus. I was a little peeved that the opening ceremonies focused more on British Columbia than anywhere else- but I guess because it’s in Vancouver that’s why… I just really get the feeling that most of the focus is on the west coast provinces and central/east provinces aren’t being recognized as Canadian at all. Maybe it’s just what they’re choosing to show on the channel I’m watching.

I was also peeved when Jen Heil didn’t win Gold. I’m COMPLETELY convinced that if she had gone last, she would’ve gotten the Gold instead of the Silver.

* Thank goodness for that auto save thing cause my computer just cut out on me. *

Anyway, I don’t want to complain anymore, because truthfully I am REALLY enjoying the Olympics so far. I’m gonna go watch some figure skating now.

I’m not sure how they judge the figure skating, for the mens moguls they base it on time and if they go outside the line or do something “wrong” they get a speed deduction. I have this week off..I’m glued to the telly too =)
