NJM 26- “Call 911! Call 911!”

 Dear Diary;

Yep. What a day.

I was leaving for work this morning and I pulled out of the garage and was preparing for a slippery drive to work. I got out of the car to check something and I could hear someone yelling. I wasn’t really paying attention though, I was thinking about work stuff. I was getting back into my car and I heard it again- I looked over my shoulder and there, in the ditch, the same spot I always complain about people driving off the road and into our fence- was a car. Some idiot hadn’t been driving carefully on the CLEARLY slippery roads (It froze rain last night and you could clearly see the glare of ice on the road) and she put her car in the ditch. She was yelling "Excuse me! Call 911 please! Call 911!" When I shouted back "Are you okay? Is anyone hurt?" She didn’t answer. So I went back inside and my dad was putting his jacket on and coming out to see what I was yelling at. I told him about the woman and the car and her asking to call 911 and he said he’d take a cell phone out and see what the deal was so that I could still get to work on time. Ideally, I should be the one checking because I am the most certified person in the household to deal with a first aid incident, but my dad had emergency first aid, so I let him deal with it.

It turns out she was just worked up over putting her car in the ditch- no one was hurt or needing 911 at all. Her and her son were on the road to our dumb ass neighbours house, so my dad drove them there. Apparently she thought her car was about the explode because she saw smoke. Dad said it was just her air bag. *eye roll*

I made it to work safely, with no close calls or incidents whatsoever. That’s what happens when you know how to drive on ice and take the time to.. oh, I don’t know… slow the fuck down? Yeah, that’s it. Slow the fuck down.

I think I’ll start a tally this winter- how many cars will go off the road and into our fence. Count so far is 1.

I sound like a bitch- I swear I’m not. I was concerned when I left and glad that no one was hurt, but I’m not kidding about the many, many, MANY people who drive this road and they speed and don’t stop at the stop sign and yadda yadda.. If they would just slow down and drive carefully, there wouldn’t be a problem. In all the years we’ve lived here, I, nor my family, have EVER had a problem with that corner.

anywhoooo..

Work was fine. Only 4 people showed up because buses were canceled. We played Bingo and made lunch and then I went home. Easiest $80 I ever made.

I’m off to bed now.

I’ve slipped (although not ended up in the ditch) even when going slow on a slippery roads. Most people do tend to drive to fast, though.
