Is Batman a real superhero?

Dear Diary;

I was reading an entry just now that reminded me of a conversation/fight that me and my brother were having a couple of weeks ago. We were watching something on television- I think it was the green lantern cartoon or something silly like that, and I started thinking about all the different "superheros" and how they became "super". Superman is from another planet, spiderman got bit by a spider, etc, etc… with the only exception being batman. Technically, Batman isn’t a real superhero in my opinion. He’s a rich dude in a fancy suit- right? He doesn’t actually have any powers of any kind.

Now, my brother has always been a comic geek (so to speak) so he’s a fan of Batman and he was quite upset with me saying that Batman wasn’t a real superhero.

What do you think?

lol that’s funny :). But yeah, i’d have to agree, Batman doesn’t really have any supernatural powers, he’s just very physically fit and has loads of super gadgets to protect him.

I don’t know if I would consider him a superhero – hero, yes, but like you said, he doesn’t have any special powers. Anyone with money could get the stuff that he has. 🙂 My 2 cents 😛

I don’t know about the super part but Batman is my favorite since he is a regular dude doing it on his own. No special powers just pure raw determination.

I think you already know what I think lol. But [Johnny Jets] said it like I would have.

i consider him a super hero without any super powers – like unnatural phenomenal powers but he still is smart and strong and fights bad and has the weapons and stuff.

I saw Batman the other day at the mall, and I asked Sol that very same thing. Why is HE a superhero? Because he has high-tech gadgets? No better than the Power Rangers, really… And technicall, since they just use hand-to-hand combat, they would be more super than him in my opinion…

Well, there’s the Batmobile! The best car ever! hee hee But that’s not what you’re talking about. Batman was more of a gadget guy and a strong man who could beat people up with his POW’s, KABLAM’s, and ZOWIE’s. Then, there was the Bat Cave, with all those computers and those great poles they used to come sliding down on on their way to the Batmobile. Ha!

IMHO I think Batman is the most believable superhero because he COULD exist… his “super power” is his money which allows him to have really neat gadgets and stuff made for him, which he uses in the fight for good.

About every other cape goes into a situation with something that tips the balance their way. What’s the courage of walking into a gunfight if you’re Superman? How is that heroic as compared to him going out and getting groceries? Equal risk, seems to me. Batman is taking way more of a risk. Though his gadgets are obviously the spoiler there. Still, the risk is real. (Well, as much as the character is) Though from what I’m hearing Batman’s the one a little dead these days.

That is so weird because I just saw something on tv where one person mentioned Batman and the other person said Batman doesn’t have any super powers…talk about irony. I think he’s a superhero because just because you have money doesn’t mean you can kick villain’s asses. Ya know?

I have to agree with both of you. He doesn’t have an powers but people look up to him and respec him, he gives people hope…so for that I think he’s a super hero.
